Hair fall and thinning can be distressing, especially when accompanied by an itchy, oily scalp. Ayurveda offers a holistic approach to address these issues by considering the balance of doshas, particularly the Pitta dosha, which when aggravated, can lead to hair problems.

First, let’s address the itchy scalp producing an oily substance. This may indicate excessive sebum production or dandruff, both of which can be linked to Pitta or Kapha imbalances. A good starting point would be regular, gentle cleansing with an herbal shampoo containing ingredients like neem or tea tree oil, known for their antibacterial properties.

Massage your scalp gently with warm coconut or sesame oil infused with herbs like amla (Indian gooseberry), bhringraj, and neem, which are beneficial for hair health. Do this twice a week; leave it overnight, if possible, or at least an hour before washing your hair. This helps to nourish the hair follicles and can soothe itching.

On the dietary front, balance Pitta by reducing spicy, oily, and acidic foods. Incorporate more cooling and hydrating foods such as cucumbers, leafy green vegetables, and seasonal fruits. Drinking amla juice or taking amla powder in your routine can also help boost hair health.

Try also to maintain a regular sleep schedule and manage stress through yoga or meditation, as stress can exacerbate hair loss.

Avoid too much exposure to hard water, if that’s a concern in your area. You may consider using filtered water for washing your hair.

If hair loss does not improve with these approaches, it may be necessary to consult a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner or dermatologist for personalized treatment. Remember, consistency and patience are key in visible electropositive results.

Hair fall and hair thinning with visible scalp patches can be influenced by various factors, including water quality, diet, stress, and your dosha balance. Given the symptoms you describe, it sounds like there could be an imbalance particularly with your Pitta dosha, possibly accompanied by Vata disturbance affecting your hair health.

First, addressing your scalp health is crucial. The itchiness and oily substance indicate an imbalance in your scalp’s natural oils. Start by using neem oil or a mixture of coconut oil with a few drops of tea tree oil. Apply this oil directly to the scalp, leave it on for about 30 minutes, then wash it off using a mild herbal shampoo. This practice should be done twice a week.

Diet plays a role, so ensure you’re eating a balanced diet with plenty of hydration, fresh fruits, and vegetables. Include sesame seeds and almonds which are beneficial for hair health. Ashwagandha can be taken as it helps manage stress and balances hormones, supporting better hair growth.

It’s important also to address digestive health, as poor digestion can impact nourishment reaching your hair. Try consuming Triphala churna; half a teaspoon with warm water before bed can aid in improving digestion and cleansing the system.

Additionally, practice stress-reducing techniques like yoga or meditation, as stress can exacerbate hair conditions. Check the water quality at your college; if it’s hard water, consider using filtered water or boiling it before use to minimize potential damage from minerals.

Consistently keep your scalp clean, not overwashing but maintaining a balance. If the condition worsens or doesn’t improve in a few weeks, it may be advisable to consult with a dermatologist, as professional evaluation can rule out dermatological conditions needing more immediate attention.
