Sri Sri Tattva Exfoliating Face Scrub - #35378

Jack

I am really struggling with my skin lately, and thought I could use some advice here. I recently started using the Sri Sri Tattva Exfoliating Face Scrub after hearing lots of good stuff about it from friends. At first, I thought it would be great, but now I'm not so sure! I mean, my face is feeling kinda rough and dry. I tried using it twice a week, but it feels like it's not working for me. My skin has kinda become flaky, and I don't know if its because of the scrub or something else. I’ve got some redness and it’s weird because I’m usually not this sensitive. I even tried cutting down to once a week, but then I feel like I’m missing out because everyone says the Sri Sri Tattva Exfoliating Face Scrub is supposed to help with removing dead skin cells and all that. Do you think I should stop using it all together or is there a way to make it work better for me? Also, should I be mixing it with something else? I really hope I can get my skin back to normal, any tips would really help!

It seems like the Sri Sri Tattva Exfoliating Face Scrub might not be the right match for your skin’s unique needs at the moment. Your skin’s reaction—redness, roughness, and dryness—suggests either an underlying sensitivity or an imbalance of Vata dosha, which governs dryness and roughness in skin. In Ayurveda, it’s crucial to keep our prakriti (constitution) in balance, so let’s look at some possible steps you can take.

First, it’s essential to listen to your skin. If you’re experiencing adverse effects after using the scrub, it might be wise to pause its use. Every skin type reacts differently, and what works for one person may not necessarily work for another. Over-exfoliating can strip your skin of its natural oils, leading to dryness and flakiness, making it feel more sensitive than usual.

To mitigate these effects, consider applying a natural, gentle, hydrating oil—such as almond or sesame oil—after cleansing. These can nourish and soothe the skin without aggravating it further. You might also benefit from using an herbal face pack made from ingredients like turmeric and sandalwood paste, which are excellent for calming and soothing the skin.

If you wish to resume using the scrub, try it diluted with a small amount of warm water, and limit its use to once a week until you notice improvements in your skin’s condition. Observe carefully how your skin responds after each use. Moreover, if dryness persists, incorporating a mild herbal moisturizer or ayurvedic cream suited for Vata skin can help keep your skin hydrated.

Dietary-wise, consume warm, moist, and nourishing foods that help pacify Vata such as cooked vegetables, whole grains, and oily seeds like flaxseeds. Ensure you’re hydrating adequately by drinking water and herbal teas, like chamomile or fennel, which assist in calming the system.

Remember, any persistent irritation or worsening condition of the skin should prompt a consultation with a dermatologist to rule out other skin conditions. Your skin can indeed return to balance and wellness with attentive care.

Based on what you’ve described, it does seem like your skin might be reacting to the Sri Sri Tattva Exfoliating Face Scrub, especially if you’re experiencing dryness, roughness, and flakiness. Exfoliants can sometimes be too harsh for certain skin types, especially if used frequently or not correctly tailored to one’s dosha balance.

In the context of Siddha-Ayurveda, the symptoms you’re experiencing could be a sign of a Vata imbalance in your skin. This can happen when the natural oils of the skin are stripped away, leading to dryness and sensitivity. It’s essential to address this by balancing your doshas. I would recommend pausing the use of the scrub for a while to see if your skin condition improves.

Instead, focus on nourishing and hydrating your skin. You might consider using a gentle, moisturizing face wash made with natural oils like almond or sesame oil, which are calming and help to restore balance to Vata-affected skin. Additionally, incorporating a simple face mask of honey mixed with a little turmeric might provide soothing and moisturizing effects, without the abrasiveness of the scrub. Apply it gently once a week.

If you decide to continue with exfoliating later, use the scrub no more than once a week, and try mixing it with some coconut or olive oil to reduce harshness and provide moisture. Moreover, ensuring that you always follow up any exfoliation with a good moisturizer is vital for maintaining skin health. Also, drinking warm water with a few slices of ginger throughout your day can support good digestive fire or agni, which reflects in healthier skin.

Monitor your skin closely, and if the redness and sensitivity persist, it’s wise to consult with a dermatologist to rule out any allergies or underlying conditions that may need different intervention. Be mindful of your skin’s responses, and always tailor any skincare product use to fit your individual needs.
