does hairfall increase in monsoon - #37007

James

I am really worried about my hairfall situation. Lately, I’ve noticed a lot more hair coming out in the shower, probably like 20-30 strands every time, ugh! This especially feels like it started when the monsoon kicked in. Does hairfall increase in monsoon or am I just imagining it? Back in June, I had this amazing hair day, you know? Then July hit and boom! The rain brought this weird humidity that I'm not used to, and I feel like my hair looks all frizzy and thin now. Crazy how a season can flip everything upside down! I read somewhere that changes in weather can affect hair health, but I’m not sure what to think. Sometimes I wonder if it’s just the stress of daily life or maybe I should be looking into some kind of Ayurvedic remedies or treatments. I'm scared that if this keeps up, I might lose all my hair! Are there any specific herbs or practices you guys recommend? Also, does hairfall increase in monsoon if someone already has a predisposition to hair loss? Any advice would really help! Thanks a ton!

डॉक्टरों की प्रतिक्रियाएं

Hairfall can indeed increase during the monsoon season, due to several factors inherent to this particular time of year. The increased humidity creates a damp environment which affects scalp health by elevating kapha dosha, and the moist conditions can lead to fungal infections or weakened roots. It’s not unusual for individuals like yourself to notice a spike in hair shedding as a result.

In Ayurveda, the health of your hair is influenced by the balance of your doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha—and the general strength of your dhatus or body tissues. The hot and humid weather typically aggravates kapha and vata doshas, potentially resulting in issues such as frizziness or thinning. This change in environment can indeed have a more pronounced effect if you’re already predisposed to hair loss.

To address this concern, Ayurveda suggests a few approaches which can be seamlessly integrated into your lifestyle. Consider yaashtimadhu (licorice) or bhringaraj as they are celebrated for hair strengthening properties. Applying oils such as Bhringraj oil or Brahmi oil to your scalp twice a week can enhance scalp nourishment, minimize hairfall, and boost regrowth. Warm the oil slightly before massaging it onto the scalp, leaving it on for a couple of hours or overnight.

Stress, as you mentioned, can exacerbate hair loss. Incorporating regular pranaayama like deep breathing or meditation can mitigate stress and balance your doshas. Pay attention to your diet too – emphasizing foods that pacify kapha and vatha is wise. Go for fresh fruits, green leafy vegetables, nuts, and seeds which can support hair health by nurturing the required dhatus. Drink herbal teas differentiated with amla or Brahmi, providing additional support for hair.

Additionally, maintain a clean scalp by regularly washing it, ensuring product accumulation and impurities are removed. This helps prevent any infections that monsoon might aggravate. Remember: consistency in such regimens is key. If the condition intensifies, or you notice persistent hair thinning, a consultation with a healthcare practitioner would be wise to rule out other underlying health concerns.
