how to increase your hair volume - #38709

Brooklyn

I am super worried about my hair lately. I've always had kinda thin hair, but it seems like it’s getting worse? Like, I can see my scalp more and more, and it’s so frustrating. I’ve tried a couple of products that claim they help with how to increase your hair volume, but nothing really works for me. It feels like a waste of money honestly. I’ve even changed my diet, started eating more proteins and vegetables, but the volume issue stays the same. Also, I have this friend who swears by some Ayurvedic herbs she uses. She says they helped her a lot. But, I dunno where to start. Should I be looking into something specific, like oils or powders? Or what about routines? I mean, how often should I be doing these treatments? I don't want to make things worse. And what if its not just the hair, like is it connected to other health stuff? I’ve been stressed too, so could that be it? I just really need some real suggestions on how to increase your hair volume because right now, I feel lost. I hope someone here has experienced something similiar and can share what worked for them. Thanks!

When it comes to increasing hair volume with Ayurveda, a comprehensive approach can be quite effective. In Ayurveda, hair health is influenced by the balance of the three doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, as well as overall lifestyle factors, including stress and diet.

First, let’s address the root—literally and figuratively. Stress, as you’ve mentioned, can indeed play a significant role in hair health by aggravating Vata and Pitta doshas. To calm Vata, consider incorporating Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri) or Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) into your routine. You can take these as supplements or brew them into a tea. They’re known for their adaptogenic properties, which help manage stress and improve overall wellbeing.

For topical treatments, Bhringraj (Eclipta prostrata) and Amla (Indian Gooseberry) are classic Ayurvedic herbs for nourishing the scalp. You might try using Bhringraj oil, massaging it gently into your scalp about 2-3 times a week. Massage not only increases blood circulation, promoting hair growth, but it also aids in the absorption of the oil’s nutrients. Leave it overnight if possible and rinse the following morning with a mild herbal shampoo. You’ll also benefit from an Amla-based hair pack, maybe once a week, as Amla is rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, strengthening hair from the roots.

To complement these treatments, continue with your nutritious diet—focus on more proteins, fresh vegetables, and healthy fats, like those from nuts and seeds, which naturally support hair health. Stay hydrated, as proper hydration is crucial for maintaining lustrous locks.

In addition to herbal remedies, ensure that your hair care routine is gentle. Avoid over-washing and harsh chemicals, which can strip your hair of natural oils. Air dry your hair when possible to prevent heat damage, and opt for a wide-toothed comb to avoid unnecessary hair breakage.

Lastly, do ensure that your stress is managed effectively. Techniques like yoga and meditation can help balance your doshas and support your mental and physical health. If your hair issues persist, consider seeking a consultation with an Ayurvedic practitioner who can tailor a regimen more specifically for you.
