Dealing with a tan, especially when it seems stubborn, is understandably frustrating. From a Siddha-Ayurvedic perspective, skin discoloration like a tan is often related to an imbalance in the pitta dosha, which deals with heat and metabolism. Here’s a natural approach to help restore your skin tone:
1. Gram flour (besan) and turmeric pack: Mix 2 tblspoons of gram flour with a pinch of turmeric and enough yogurt to form a paste. Gram flour helps exfoliate, while turmeric can help in brightening without leaving a strong stain if rinsed off properly. Apply this paste to your hands, leave it for around 15-20 minutes, and rinse with lukewarm water. Do this 3-4 times a week.
2. Lemon juice and honey mix: Lemon is known for its natural bleaching properties, while honey moisturizes the skin. Mix equal parts lemon juice and honey, apply to the tanned areas, and leave for 20 minutes before washing off with warm water. Use this remedy 2-3 times a week, preferably in the evening as lemon can make your skin photosensitive.
3. Aloe vera gel: Apply fresh aloe vera gel on the tanned areas every night before sleeping. Aloe vera has soothing and lightening properties that will gradually reduce the tan.
4. Avoid sunlight: Try to minimize sun exposure and always use sunscreen before going out.
Be consistent with these remedies; they require regular application for noticeable results. If any irritation occurs, discontinue use. Lastly, it’s important to maintain balanced hydration and a diet rich in antioxidants like fresh fruits and vegetables to help your skin heal effectively from within.
