what is the best solution for hair fall - #39276

Stella

I am really struggling with hair fall lately, and I can't figure out what to do. My hair is thinning a lot, and I feel like I’m shedding more than usual. I’ve tried a couple of shampoos that claim to help, but nothing seems to work. It’s kinda frustrating because it’s affecting my confidence too! Just last week, I was at a party, and I noticed a friend had such thick hair, and I couldn’t help but feel envious. I started noticing this problem maybe 6 months ago, and now it's like I can see my scalp in places where my hair used to be fuller. My diet is decent, I mean I eat fruits and veggies, but maybe I need to change some things up? I even went to a dermatologist, and they said I might need to stress less, but honestly, life is busy! I’m curious, what is the best solution for hair fall? Has anyone tried herbal remedies or ayurvedic treatments? Someone told me that shikakai or amla could help, but I haven’t had the guts to just try it. Does anyone have recommendations on what to use or what’s the best thing to do? Really hoping to find something that works! Thanks in advance!!

Hair fall can definitely be disheartening, but there are things you can try that align with Ayurvedic principles. Ayurveda views hair fall often as a sign of imbalance in the doshas, particularly Pitta, which can be exacerbated by factors like stress, heat exposure, or dietary issues. Let’s dive into some tried-and-tested remedies and adjustments that might prove beneficial.

First, incorporating a Tridoshic oil, like Bhringraj oil, can be extremely helpful. Bhringraj, known as the “king of herbs” for hair, helps nourish the scalp, promoting hair growth and reducing hair fall. Warm the oil slightly and massage into your scalp once or twice a week, let it sit for at least an hour before washing. This will also help in reducing stress, a known aggravator of hair loss.

You mentioned amla, which is excellent. Amla is a powerful Rasayana that can be taken both internally and externally. Consuming a glass of fresh amla juice in the morning or its powder, mixed with water can support hair growth, due its high vitamin C content which has antioxidant properties. You can also create a hair mask with amla powder, mixing it with water to apply directly to your scalp for an hour before washing it off.

From a dietary standpoint, ensure you’re consuming good sources of nourishment like almonds, which are rich in protein and healthy fats known to enhance hair strength. Adding sesame seeds into your diet can be beneficial as well due to their calcium and magnesium, which support healthy hair growth.

It’s important to avoid excessive heat on your hair and using chemical-laden products which can disturb the natural balance of your scalp. Instead, substitute your shampoo with a gentle herbal cleanser containing ingredients like shikakai or reetha.

Lastly, try incorporating a relaxation technique into your routine, such as yoga or meditation, even if for just 10 minutes a day. Stress is indeed a contributor and managing it can lead to improvements not just in your hair health but overall well-being.

However, if you notice no improvement with these natural interventions or if hair loss accelerates, a follow-up visit to your healthcare provider to rule out underlying conditions might be prudent.

Based on your condition, hair fall can often be linked to imbalances in your doshas, specifically a vata-pitta imbalance can cause such issues. It seems you might need to focus on restoring balance through Ayurvedic practices that nourish the scalp and hair.

Firstly, incorporating amla (Indian gooseberry) can be beneficial. Amla is known to support hair health due to its rich vitamin C content and balancing effect on pitta dosha. You can try consuming amla in its fresh form or as amla powder mixed with water daily. At night, apply amla oil to your scalp and leave it on overnight—this practice can help strengthen hair roots.

Shikakai and reetha used in combination can be effective as natural cleansers for the scalp. Mix shikakai, reetha, and a small amount of amla powder in warm water, then use this mixture to wash your hair once or twice weekly. It helps maintain scalp health without stripping natural oils.

Diet plays a crucial role too. Make sure including foods like almonds, walnuts, and flaxseeds which are rich in omega-3 fatty acids could sustain hair growth. Also, consider reducing spicy, oily, or very sour foods which could aggravate pitta dosha.

Stress management is equally important as stress impacts the vitality of hair. Incorporate practices like yoga or pranayama (breath control exercises) which are excellent for balancing vata and soothing pitta-driven stress.

Lastly, observe regularity in sleep patterns, ideally going to bed and waking up the same time daily can nurture your body’s natural rhythms, harmonizing your doshas.

If your hair fall persists or worsens, consulting an Ayurveda practitioner who can provide a detailed examination specific to your prakriti and lifestyle could be beneficial. Your body constitution and current stresses require a comprehensive and customized approach to bring about balance and encourage hair health.
