how to get strong hair roots - #39416

Jayden

I am facing a bit of a crisis with my hair lately. They’ve been thinning out quite a lot, and it’s really stressing me out. Just last month, I started noticing this massive hair fall when I shower, and like, my scalp feels super oily sometimes but then also kind of dry. Weird, right? I read some articles that say it might have to do with my diet – I’ve been eating mostly takeout and junk food coz I'm just too tired to cook after work. Ugh. I’ve tried some shampoo commercials recommend, but no changes at all. A friend suggested I look into Ayurveda, which has got me curious on how to get strong hair roots. I mean, I've always believed in natural remedies being better but not really sure where to start. Can anyone share some tips or remedies on how to get strong hair roots? Like, should I be using oils or special herbs? I heard amla is great but is it enough on its own? I really need my hair back in shape, not just because of looks but I feel like it really affects my confidence, you know? How often should I be doing treatments, and are there any dietary changes you think might help with how to get strong hair roots? I kinda feel lost here, any help would be appreciated!!

To strengthen your hair roots through Ayurveda, addressing both internal and external factors is essential. Given your current diet and lifestyle, it can be impacting the health of your hair. Start by incorporating fresh, balanced meals rich in nutrients. Focus on foods rich in iron and protein such as lentils, beans, spinach, and nuts. Incorporating these into your daily meals supports hair growth and strength. Hydrating adequately can also help regulate the oiliness of your scalp.

For your external care, Ayurvedic oils such as Bhringraj, Amla, and Brahmi are beneficial. A regular scalp massage, perhaps twice a week, with warm Bhringraj oil can nourish the scalp and strengthen hair roots. Amla, the Indian gooseberry, is indeed excellent as it helps in reducing pigmentation and hair thinning. You can consume Amla juice or powder daily, which will nourish your hair from the inside out.

In addition, creating a hair mask with Amla powder mixed with yogurt or simply using freshly made Amla paste on your scalp can do wonders. Apply this mask for around 30 minutes and rinse it off with lukewarm water. Practicing this once a week could significantly improve hair texture and strength.

Include herbal supplements such as Ashwagandha, which aids in stress management, thereby preventing additional hair fall due to cortisol imbalance. Along with supplements, maintaining a routine that reduces stress like yoga or meditation can help a lot.

Consistency with these treatments and dietary adjustments is the key to see improvements. Be patient as natural remedies might show results slower than chemical treatments, but they promote long-term health, sustainability of your hair. If you notice any critical issues or conditions persist, it’s wise to visit a healthcare professional or dermatologist to rule out any underlying causes.

Certainly, it sounds like your hair health issues could be stemming from a combination of dietary deficiencies, stress, and possibly imbalances in your doshas, particularly pitta and vata, which can affect hair health. In Siddha-Ayurveda, we approach hair care holistically by addressing both external applications and internal health.

1. Dietary changes: Yes, your diet plays a critical role! Incorporate foods rich in iron, zinc, omega-3 fatty acids, and protein. These nutrients are vital for strong hair roots. Leafy greens, nuts, seeds, lentils, and fish are excellent choices. Avoid excess spicy and oily foods to help balance pitta.

2. Herbal Applications: As far as herbs go, amla (Indian gooseberry) is indeed beneficial due to its high vitamin C content and ability to pacify pitta. Regularly using an amla hair mask or incorporating amla powder in your diet can support hair strength. Brahmi and bhringraj are also recommended herbs, either mixed in oil for scalp massages or consumed as supplements.

3. Oiling: Regular scalp oiling is essential. Consider using a blend of coconut or sesame oil infused with bhringraj and Brahmi. Warm the oil slightly, massage into your scalp with gentle circular motions, and leave it on overnight or for at least a couple of hours before washing it out. Do this 2–3 times a week to nourish the scalp and hair roots.

4. Lifestyle Adjustments: Managing stress is crucial as it influences hair health significantly. Practice meditation, yoga, or simple breathing exercises to calm your mind and reduce stress levels.

5. Sleep and Hydration: Ensure you’re getting adequate sleep to allow your body to repair and regenerate. Drinking enough water each day is also crucial for keeping your systems well hydrated, benefiting your scalp health.

Lastly, if these measures don’t lead to noticeable improvements, it might be wise to consult with a Siddha-Ayurvedic practitioner in person for a detailed dosha analysis and personalized treatment plan. Addressing hair health naturally takes some time, so be patient with the process.
