The combination of dry skin and acne can indicate an imbalance in your doshas, possibly a vitiation of Vata and Pitta. Treating this requires a balanced approach both topically and internally.
For a gentle cleanse, consider using a mild herbal cleanser like chickpea flour (besan) mixed with a pinch of turmeric and enough water to make a paste. Apply it gently and wash off with lukewarm water. This will cleanse without stripping the skin of its natural oils.
As for moisturizer, sesame oil works well for dry skin due to its warming and nourishing properties, balancing Vata’s dryness while also being light enough not to clog pores. Apply a few drops of sesame oil on your face after washing. You could also try aloe vera gel as it provides soothing, anti-inflammatory properties that are beneficial for acne.
At night, use a light application of neem oil specifically on areas affected by acne after cleansing. Neem is known in Ayurveda for its antibacterial and antifungal properties, which can help reduce breakouts.
Internally, consider your diet to support your skin. Warm, cooked meals with ghee, turmeric, and ginger can help balance Vata and Pitta. Stay hydrated and include plenty of water-rich fruits and veggies.
Regarding dark circles, ensure you’re getting adequate rest. Applying cooled cucumber slices over your eyes for 10 minutes daily may help reduce their appearance.
If these suggestions don’t seem to help, or if your condition worsens, consult a healthcare professional in person for a more comprehensive evaluation.
