Namaste Sakshi, Your symptoms suggest an imbalance of Pitta and Vata doshas, leading to skin sensitivity, redness, and dryness. Here’s how you can manage it:

Diet: Avoid spicy, sour, and hot foods. Consume cooling and hydrating foods like cucumber, coconut water, and ghee. Avoid caffeine, alcohol, and processed foods. External Application: Apply Kumkumadi Tailam gently on the face at night to soothe redness. Use a sandalwood paste or aloe vera gel for calming the skin. Herbs & Remedies: Take Sarivadyasava (10 ml with water after meals) to detoxify and balance Pitta. Mix Manjishtha powder with warm water and consume 1 tsp daily for healthy skin. Lifestyle: Avoid harsh skincare products and sun exposure. Keep your face cool by splashing it with rose water during the day. Consult an Ayurvedic practitioner for personalized care if the condition persists.

The redness and itching you’re experiencing are familiar signs that something’s out of balance. In Ayurveda, these symptoms often point towards a Pitta dosha aggravation, but Vata could also play a role, especially if there’s some dryness too. Pitta governs the heat and transformation process in the body and when it’s off-kilter, usually results in irritated skin like what you’re describing. Vata, on the other hand, when aggravated, can lead to dryness and roughness.

To calm things down, you might want to start by avoiding spicy, salty, and fermented foods, as they tend to increase Pitta. Opt for cooling foods instead like cucumbers, coriander, fennel, and sweet fruits. You could also try a bit of aniseed in water - it can be quite soothing. At the same time, keep your skin hydrated with an oil massage using coconut or even almond oil. Just gently massage it into your skin a few minutes before showering each day. Careful though, don’t scrub hard on those red patches, be gentle.

Staying hydrated’s key too, drink plenty of room-temperature water, and avoid drinks that are too hot or ice cold. Herbal teas like chamomile or mint might be worth a try. They have a calming, cooling effect. And remember to avoid sun exposure as best you can, try to wear a wide-brimmed hat if you need to be outside.

Breathing exercises like Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril breathing) or meditation can help to soothe the mind and balance Pitta. Consistency’s important, so try to incorporate them into your daily routine. Also, check your skincare products to ensure they’re as natural as possible, sometimes chemical additives could be the culprit.

If your red, itchy face persists or if it worsens, please consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner or a dermatologist to make sure it’s nothing more serious.
