Your son’s symptoms suggest Vicharchika, an Ayurvedic term for eczema or atopic dermatitis. To manage it, apply a soothing herbal oil like Eladi Taila or Kumkumadi Taila to moisturize the skin and reduce itching. Give lukewarm baths with neem leaves or Triphala decoction to calm the inflammation. Avoid triggering foods like processed, spicy, or fermented items, and include cooling, nourishing foods like ghee, moong dal, and cooked vegetables. Internally, Gandhaka Rasayana or Khadirarishta can help detoxify and alleviate symptoms. Consult an Ayurvedic physician for personalized dosages and ensure your child stays hydrated and avoids scratching to prevent aggravation.

Eczema in kids, like your son, can be real challenging. You want to scratch their skin fully but that’s not good, right? In Ayurveda, eczema is often linked to an imbalance in the doshas, especially Pitta and Kapha. Now, while we aim for a more holistic management rather than calling it a “cure,” there’s plenty we can do!

First, let’s talk about diet. Cooling and hydrating foods are your best buddies here. Try giving him some naturally sweet things, like juicy fruits - melons, pears, grapes, but avoid citrus fruits as they can irritate the skin more. Cook with ghee, and avoid spicy, salty, and sour foods. Keep him hydrated with lots of water, but also, try giving coconut water, it’s soothingfor pitta, balances the fire.

Bathing is the next concern. Use lukewarm water, not hot. Add a teaspoon of neem powder or a few drops of neem oil, known for its antibacterial properties. Dry skin gently with a soft towel after.

For topical relief, mix turmeric with aloe vera gel and apply to those itchy areas, this can help with the inflammation too. Just make sure you test on a small area first to ensure there’s no adverse reaction, sometimes people are unexpectedly sensitive.

Clothing matters too. Dress him in loose cotton clothes, it allows the skin to breathe and reduce irritation.

Another major thing, make sure he gets some Sun, just a little bit can help to calm the skin. But shield him from excessive direct sunlight.

Now, if the itching is unbearable, maybe a consultation with an Ayurvedic practitioner for more personalised treatments like herbs or internal medicines could be beneficial. But remember, if the condition worsens quickly or you see symptoms like severe crusting or spreading rash, it’s important to seek immediate medical help. Safety first always!
