This butterfly-shaped pigmentation is called Vyanga in Ayurveda. It mainly occurs due to imbalance of Pitta and Vata dosha, along with sun exposure and stress. Treatment focuses on Rakta shodhana (blood purification) and Pitta shaman (cooling the system). Your current medicines like Manjistha and Khadirarishta help internally, and gentle external applications support the skin. Avoid excessive heat, sun exposure, and irritating products for better results. —hydroquinone can be used for faster results, but only for a short duration and with proper guidance, as it may irritate the skin and disturb its natural balance. – if u want to use …use at alternate days with low dose – for 7-10 days only

Butterfly-shaped pigmentation = often Melasma Can you use Hydroquinone Yes, but carefully Use 2% hydroquinone at night Apply only on dark areas Use for 6–8 weeks max Always use sunscreen in daytime It can give faster results than only Ayurvedic packs Continue Ayurveda (good) Manjistha Kwath 15 ml + water, twice daily Khadirarishta 15 ml + water, twice daily Improve your routine Mulethi pack → ok 2–3 times/week Avoid fitkari daily (can irritate skin) Must add (very important) Daily sunscreen (SPF 30+) Avoid direct sun Optional add Kumkumadi Tailam Apply at night on face (alternate with hydroquinone)
Butterfly-shaped pigmentation (likely melasma) needs gentle and consistent treatment, not very aggressive mixing of therapies. Hydroquinone can give faster results, but it should be used carefully and for short duration only, preferably under supervision. Overuse can cause skin irritation or rebound pigmentation. Also, combining too many applications (mulethi, curd, fitkari, multani mitti + hydroquinone) can irritate skin and worsen pigmentation. Keep routine simple: Avoid harsh or drying packs frequently. Fitkari and multani mitti can over-dry and irritate. Most important: Daily sunscreen is must, otherwise no treatment will sustain results. At home, you can use gentle mulethi-based application alone and keep skin moisturized. • Continue Manjistha kwath – as you are taking • Khadirarishta – continue same If using hydroquinone: • Apply only at night, thin layer, for limited period (4–6 weeks max) Do not mix with other strong applications on same day. Consistency + sun protection will give better long-term results. Regards, Dr Raghuveer (Ayurvedacharya)
