You should not stop your allopathic BP medicine suddenly. High BP is mainly due to Vata–Pitta imbalance + Rasa/Rakta dushti. Muktavati helps, but it needs time to stabilize the system. About your headache: Headache after starting Muktavati may be due to: dose not suitable for your body Sudden BP fluctuation Pitta aggravation Safe approach to stop allopathic medicine: continue amlodipine for now Take Muktavati in lower dose (1-0-1 after food) Monitor BP daily for 10–14 days If BP remains stable (~120–130 / 80–90): gradually reduce amlodipine Never stop abruptly Supportive ayurvedic care: Diet: low salt, avoid spicy, fried food Daily: Pranayama (anulom vilom, Bhramari) Good sleep, stress control add: Amla juice or garlic (mild BP support)
Don’t worry some lifestyle modification will address your issue. Avoid packed, processed and salty products. Regular exercise and meditation. Increase intake of raw vegetables and fruits. Drink sufficient quantity of water. Slowly withdraw Allopathic medicine. Tab.Arjin 2-0-2 Monitor BP regularly. Follow up after 1 week.
Do not stop Amlodipine suddenly. BP medicines should always be reduced gradually with monitoring, otherwise BP can shoot up again. Headache after starting Muktavati usually indicates BP fluctuation or dose not suiting initially. Right approach: Continue Amlodipine for now. Do not stop it abruptly. Reduce Muktavati dose first: Take only 1 tablet twice daily instead of 2 Monitor BP daily (morning & evening) After 10–14 days: If BP remains stable (around 120–130/80–90), then gradual tapering can be done: Amlodipine 2.5 mg → alternate day for 1–2 weeks Then stop, only if BP remains stable Lifestyle is very important: Avoid excess salt, stress, late nights. Continue exercise and good sleep. Ghar par: Warm water in morning + deep breathing (pranayama) daily. Muktavati – 1 tablet twice daily Sarpagandha vati – 1 tablet at night (if BP tends to rise) If headache persists or BP fluctuates, adjust dose accordingly and stay in touch with your doctor. Goal is safe transition, not sudden stopping. Regards, Dr Raghuveer (Ayurvedacharya)
