Classical ayurvedic reference also tells that its better to take with sunthi for the gout
In Ayurveda, Giloy is considered helpful in gout (Vatarakta) due to its anti-inflammatory and detoxifying properties. For powdered Giloy in 00-size capsules, a commonly used supportive dose is: 1 capsule twice daily after meals with warm water During flare-ups, it is sometimes taken regularly for a few weeks under guidance rather than only “as needed” General advice for gout: Avoid excess red meat, alcohol, very spicy and sour foods Drink plenty of warm water Reduce curd, fried food, and packaged foods Maintain good digestion, as poor metabolism (Ama) aggravates gout
If you want to take in tablet form, Guduchi ghan vati is available in the market. You can take 1 tablet twice a day after meals. As Giloy acts as anti inflammatory and blood purifier can be used in Gout. If you have in powder form can take with warm water twice a day after meals. Take daily for 1 month and consult ayurvedic doctors for better results.
Hello, 1. Traditionally, in ayurveda classic text books the dosage of goily stem powder for an adult amounts to 3 grams to 6 grams per day. So it is better to take the 3 grams of powder after breakfast and 3 grams of powder after dinner with ginger tea for 2 months, rather than taking capsule(though capsule is easy to take) for gout. Then a follow up is must. 2. More effective way is to take Guduchi Ghanavati one tablet after breakfast and one tablet after dinner with ginger tea for 2 months, then follow up with an ayurveda doctor. 3. Word of suggestion: For gout just giloy may not be enough. So if possible please share the supporting reports+ proper history+ the symptoms so that it can be addressed more appropriately. Take care, Kind regards.
Giloy powder in 00-size capsule is usually about 500–700 mg per capsule. For gout 1 capsule twice daily after food with warm water. During flare-up: up to 2 capsules twice daily for few days. Better taken regularly for 6–8 weeks rather than only when needed. Also Avoid red meat, alcohol, excess sour/spicy food. Drink plenty of water.
Hello, In Ayurveda, gout is categorized as Vatarakta, a condition where aggravated Vata dosha and vitiated Rakta (blood) affect the joints. Giloy (Tinospora cordifolia), known as Guduchi, is the herb of choice because it is Vata-Hara (reduces Vata) and Rakta-Prasadaka (purifies blood). A 00-size capsule typically holds about 500 mg to 600 mg of powder depending on how tightly it is packed. Dose: Take 2 capsules twice daily (totaling approximately 2g per day). Regime: For gout, regular usage is highly recommended over “as needed” use. Giloy works by modulating uric acid metabolism over time; consistent intake for 4–8 weeks helps prevent flares. Anupana (Vehicle): Take with lukewarm water or a teaspoon of honey to enhance absorption. Prescription : For potent results in Vatarakta, Pinda Thailam (external) and Guduchi Kwath or Samsamani Vati are standard, but the specific classical formulation for systemic relief is: 1. Medicine: Kaisore Guggulu Dose: 2 tablets twice daily after food with lukewarm water. This preparation combines Guduchi with Triphala and Guggulu to specifically target inflammatory conditions and help regulate uric acid levels.
Giloy (Guduchi) can support gout by helping with inflammation and metabolic balance, but it is usually a supportive remedy, not a stand-alone cure for high uric acid. For powdered giloy in size “00” capsules (roughly 500–700 mg each): General regimen: • 1 capsule twice daily after meals • During flare-up: up to 2 capsules twice daily for a short period if tolerated Best taken with: • Warm water or • Guduchi + warm water with small pinch dry ginger if digestion is weak Use: 👉 More useful as regular moderate support for 6–8 weeks rather than only “as needed”. Also important: • Hydration • Reduce alcohol, red meat, excess sugar/fructose • Avoid frequent fasting/dehydration Monitor: If you have recurrent gout, periodic uric acid and kidney function monitoring is important. Stop/reduce if: • Loose stools • Excess dryness/low appetite • Unusual fatigue Regards, Dr Raghuveer (Ayurvedacharya)
