Fatty liver, a condition known in Ayurveda as “Yakrit Roga,” often aligns with Kapha dosha imbalance, typically due to excessive accumulation and stagnation. It’s good you’re already making efforts on dietary fronts. However, working on liver health and weight stability requires an integrative approach.

Start with your diet. Favor a Kapha-pacifying diet, reducing heavy, oily, and sweet foods. Include lighter, warming, and easily digestible meals. Focus on fresh vegetables, especially bitter ones like bitter gourd and leafy greens. Fruits like apples and papayas are beneficial. Avoid processed and fried foods, white sugar, and refined flour. Introduce turmeric in meals; its anti-inflammatory properties support liver function.

Incorporate herbal support like Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) known for it’s detoxifying effect or Amla (Emblica officinalis) for strengthening metabolism. Consult an Ayurvedic physician for specific formulations suitable for your condition.

Digestive fire, or agni, is paramount. Consider Ginger tea before meals to stimulate digestion. Avoid overeating; distribute smaller meals throughout the day rather than few large ones. Elevating physical activity is just as crucial; however, be gentle on the body. Opt for brisk walks or yoga, focusing on poses promoting digestion like Ardha Matsyendrasana or Bhujangasana.

Monitor your mental state, as emotional wellness affects liver health. Practice mindfulness, meditation or Pranayama to manage stress which can otherwise exacerbate weight issues.

Lastly, regular Panchakarma therapies like Virechana might be advantageous to cleanse and balance doshas, though it’s important to have this performed under skilled guidance. If despite these measures weight persists or if symptoms worsen, reconsult a healthcare provider. Early intervention can prevent complications, prioritising your wellbeing.
