When dealing with a condition like an umbilical hernia, particularly when thyroid and diabetes are also present, it’s important to address each ailment with an integrative approach. Ayurvedic treatment focuses on understanding the underlying imbalances of doshas and adjusting lifestyle and diet accordingly. However, an umbilical hernia may require surgical intervention, especially if severe. It’s crucial to consult a conventional physician alongside any Ayurvedic treatment to ensure safety and appropriateness.

For the thyroid dysfunction, focus on balancing the Kapha dosha. Ashwagandha and Guggulu are commonly used herbs in Ayurveda to support thyroid health. Take Ashwagandha powder—500 mg twice a day with warm milk, as it helps correct thyroid hormone imbalance. Trikatu, a combination of black pepper, long pepper, and ginger, can help manage weight and metabolism—use 1 teaspoon with honey before meals.

In managing diabetes, it’s essential to balance the Kapha and Pitta doshas. Herbal formulations such as Vijaysar (Pterocarpus marsupium) are recommended. Drink water that has been stored in a Vijaysar wood tumbler overnight, as this helps in maintaining blood sugar levels naturally. Also, include fenugreek seeds soaked in water overnight and consumed on an empty stomach in the morning.

Diet is critical here—consume a Kapha-Pitta pacifying diet. This includes consuming warm, light, and easily digestible foods, avoiding heavy, oily and sugary foods. Incorporate more bitter and stringent vegetables like bitter gourd, spinach, and cooked greens.

Engage in regular exercises like yoga and Pranayama, focusing on asanas that strengthen the abdominal wall without straining like Dhanurasana and Setubandha Sarvangasana. Always remember the importance of regular medical monitoring as well. Given these conditions, ensure frequent check-ups with your healthcare providers to monitor the hernia, thyroid and blood glucose levels effectively.
