In Ayurveda, your symptoms may indicate an imbalance involving Vata and Pitta doshas, potentially exacerbating digestive issues. To address the gut-related concerns, strengthening agni, the digestive fire, and repairing gut lining is essential. Begin with dietary adjustments. Consume warm, cooked foods that are easy to digest, like kichari (a mixture of rice and mung beans), steamed vegetables, and soups. Avoid raw, cold, or processed foods, as they can further disturb agni.

Include ghee in your diet, as it is known for its gut-healing properties and can help repair gut lining. A teaspoon of ghee in warm milk taken on an empty stomach can be beneficial. Moreover, triphala may be helpful in balancing digestion; take one teaspoon mixed with warm water before bedtime. When it comes to probiotics, consider homemade yogurt or buttermilk, which contains live cultures vital for restoring gut flora. Fresh ginger tea can relieve bloating and support digestion.

Manage stress, which can further exacerbate gut issues, through daily practices such as yoga, meditation or pranayama. Meditation and deep breathing exercises can promote mental clarity and alleviate cognitive decline symptoms. Maintain a regular sleep pattern to support cognitive functions. Strive to be in bed by 10 PM and wake around sunrise, as per the body’s natural circadian rhythm.

Furthermore, consult an Ayurvedic practitioner to tailor herbs such as Ashwagandha or Brahmi for mental alertness, and ensure they align with your constitution. If symptoms worsen or new neurological symptoms appear, it is crucial to seek an immediate medical evaluation. The consultation aims to discern whether further or immediate intervention is required, especially considering toxin presence potentially affecting cognition. While Ayurveda offers valuable guidance, ensuring safety and addressing urgent medical needs remains a priority.

Leaky gut suggests an imbalance in your digestive system that could be linked to weakened agni or impaired digestive fire. With symptoms of bloating and stomach pain, your digestive tract’s eithers overwhelmed by ama (toxins), or there’s an increase of specific doshas, possibly kapha or vata, that disturb your digestive harmony. Cognitive decline you’re concerned about might be linked to undigested toxins affecting the mind due to their entry into the bloodstream and possibly crossing the brain barrier.

First, consider incorporating Triphala into your daily routine. Take about 1 teaspoon of Triphala powder mixed with warm water before bedtime. It can help cleanse and balance gut flora, while easing digestive discomfort. For holistic support, turmeric milk may also be beneficial due to its anti-inflammatory properties. Warm a glass of milk with a half teaspoon of turmeric powder; consuming it once daily can promote gut healing and aid cognitive functions.

Dietary adjustments are equally crucial. Favor warm, cooked meals over raw foods which are difficult to digest. Steamed vegetables, whole grains like rice, and balanced proteins like mung dal are excellent. Avoid processed foods, dairy, and sugar, which can worsen gut imbalance. Hydration is essential, so sip warm water throughout the day to support digestion and toxin elimination.

Practicing pranayama, specifically Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril breathing), for about 10 minutes daily may help balance the subtle nadis, improve mental clarity, and reduce stress impacting digestion.

Given the complexity of your symptoms, I’d recommend connecting with an Ayurvedic practitioner who can offer more tailored guidance and monitor your progress. Additionally, consulting with a healthcare professional familiar with leaky gut and cognitive health remains important to explore any critical treatments needed.
