Doctors' responses

Anal fissures can indeed cause discomfort, and your symptoms suggest some aggravation of Vata and Pitta doshas, leading to dryness and inflammation in the anal region. Applying Jatyadi oil is a good start as it is known for its wound-healing and soothing properties. Ensure you are applying it twice daily to the affected area, ideally after having cleaned the region gently with warm water and dried it thoroughly.

Dietary adjustments play a significant role in managing this condition. Increase your intake of warm, easily digestible foods, rich in fiber. Incorporate kitchari, soups, and boiled vegetables into your diet, which are gentle on your digestive system and will help normalize bowel movements. Avoid eating overly spicy, oily, or acidic foods that can further irritate the condition. Drink plenty of water daily to aid stool passage and avoid dehydration that can worsen fissures. Triphala churna, taken at bedtime, about one teaspoon with lukewarm water, can help regulate bowel movements and support healing.

Regulate your routine to align with natural body rhythms. Empty the bowels at the same time each day, preferably early morning, without straining; allow time for nature’s process. Perform gentle exercises like walking or yoga daily to enhance circulation and digestion.

External application of coconut oil may also provide relief. A warm sitz bath, where you sit in a tub filled with a few inches of warm water for 10-15 minutes after bowel movements, can reduce pain and support healing.

Monitor the condition, and if symptoms persist or worsen in another week, please consult an ayurvedic practitioner or healthcare provider in person. The healing process can be gradual, and personalized assessment may be needed if initial interventions aren’t enough.
