can we take shilajit with water - #44285

Grace

I am really confused about something and I hope someone can help. I’ve been reading about shilajit and its benefits, and honestly, I’m excited to give it a try! But the thing is, I came across different opinions on how to take it. Some say you can take shilajit with water, while others mention it should be mixed with milk or honey. A few weeks ago, I started feeling unusually tired and my energy levels dropped significantly, especially in the afternoons. I heard shilajit can boost energy and I want to see if it could help me feel more lively. I did a bit of research and found out shilajit is rich in minerals and stuff like that, and I think it might be helpful for me. Just a couple of days ago, I got my hands on some pure shilajit resin, so I’m ready to try it! But back to my question—can we take shilajit with water? I’m worried that if I mix it with water, it won’t be as effective, or worse, it could upset my stomach! Do you think drinking it with water is ok? Or should I consider other options like milk or honey? I wanna do this the right way! Thanks for any insights!

Shilajit can be taken with water, and that’s perfectly fine. In fact, water is a common medium used for taking shilajit. You should dissolve a small, pea-sized portion of the resin in a glass of lukewarm water. Stir it well until it’s fully dissolved before consuming. Taking shilajit this way won’t lessen its effectiveness, and should not cause any stomach upset for most people.

That being said, the combination with milk or honey is also traditional and beneficial, especially in Ayurveda. Mixing shilajit with warm milk can enhance its nourishing properties, making it more suitable for vata and pitta dosha types. If you decide to mix it with milk, make sure the milk is warm but not boiling, as too much heat can affect the active components of shilajit.

Using honey, on the other hand, can improve the taste and is often suggested for those who may have a harder time digesting milk, or for kapha dosha individuals, as honey has a slightly astringent and warming quality that balances kapha. Mix a small quantity of shilajit directly with a spoonful of honey before consuming it.

Your choice among water, milk, or honey can also be based on personal preference and any dietary considerations you might have. If you are lactose intolerant, for example, opting for water or honey would be preferable.

It’s commendable that you’re being proactive about managing your energy levels. However, if shilajit doesn’t alleviate your fatigue or if the fatigue worsens or persists, you should definitely consult a healthcare provider for further assessment. It’s key to ensure that there aren’t underlying health conditions contributing to your tiredness that might require specific attention beyond the supplementation of minerals and elements in shilajit.
