THANK YOU FOR CONTACTING, ASK AYURVEDA WHEN SOMEONE HAS BEEN WAKING UP 7 TO 10 TIMES A NIGHT FOR MORE THAN SIX MONTHS, EVEN AFTER HOSPITAL VISITS KEGELS ACUPUNCTURE AND IT USUALLY MEANS THE BLADDER MUSCLES AND THE NERVE SIGNALS THAT CONTROL THEM HAVE BECOME OVERLY SENSITIVE AND WEAK AT THE SAME TIME. SO EVEN A SMALL AMOUNT OF URINE CREATES THE URGE. THE FACT THAT ACUPUNCTURE HAS ALREADY REDUCED IT TO 3 TO 4 TIMES SHOWS SYSTEM IS RESPONDING

TO SUPPORT THIS NATURALLY FOCUS ON CALMING THE BLADDER AT NIGHT AND STRENGTHENING IT IN THE DAY

SIP WARM WATER THROUGHOUT THE DAY, AVOID TEA COFFEE AFTER 3 PM. KEEP YOUR FEET WARM BEFORE SLEEP, AND GENTLY MASSAGE THE LOWER ABDOMEN AND LOWER BACK WITH WARM SESAME OIL AT NIGHT TO RELAX THE BLADDER NERVES

Practice pranayama, meditation Internally start on

TAKE 1 TEASPOON OF GOKSHURA + PUNARNAVA BOIL IN 200 ML WATER UNTIL IT REMAINS HUNDRED ML FILTER AND DRINK TWICE DAILY ON EMPTY STOMACH VARUNADI KASHAYAM-15, ML WITH EQUAL AMOUNT OF WATER TWICE DAILY AFTER MEALS CHANDRAPRABHA VATI - ONE TABLET TWICE DAILY AFTER FOOD WITH WARM WATER

Take pinch of nut Mac in warm milk at night

WITH THESE STEPS, ALONG WITH YOUR ONGOING TCM TREATMENT, SLEEP WILL USUALLY IMPROVE WITHIN FEW WEEKS, AND THE URGENCY WILL BECOME MORE MANAGEABLE

Hello, I‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ totally get what you mean. Generally, having to get up 7–10 times at night only to urinate, having your sleep interrupted, getting headaches, and feeling tired all the time can be very demoralizing.

You have already gone through the exercises, the hospital treatment, and acupuncture — yet you only get partial relief.

However, don’t stress; we are here to help you out☺️

YOUR WORRY

You are going through: - Night-time urination 7–10 times - Daytime frequency also - Sleep deprivation + headaches - Panda eyes due to lack of rest - Only slight improvement with acupuncture - Moderate fatigue during the day

This closely indicates Vata aggravation in Basti (urinary system) → called Mutra Vega Avarodh, Basti Dushti & Vata Prakopa.

Proper Ayurvedic bladder-nourishing treatment can definitely help your situation.

AYURVEDIC TREATMENT PLAN

INTERNAL MEDICATIONS (For bladder control, calming nerves & improving sleep)

1. Gokshuradi Guggulu 2 tablets twice daily after food - Rebuilds the muscles of the bladder - Frequency is reduced - Removes inflammation in the urinary tract

2. Chandraprabha Vati 2 tablets twice daily - A very effective medication for an overactive bladder - Reduces irritation & urgency - Improves urine retention capacity

3. Brahmi Vati 1 tablet at night - Supports the nervous system - Helps deep sleep - Reduces nocturnal urination caused by Vata imbalance

4. Dashmoolaristha 2 tsp with warm water at bedtime - Helps when the nerves in the pelvic region are irritated - Stretches the bladder - Reduces pain & restlessness

EXTERNAL / SUPPORTIVE THERAPY

Warm castor oil massage on lower abdomen 10 minutes before bath - Reduces Vata in pelvic area - Helps bladder control

Hot water bag on lower back at night - Relaxes bladder muscles - Cuts down on night-time urgencies

DIET PLAN

Include Warm soups, khichdi, dal Ghee 1 tsp/day Warm water only Pomegranate Banana (daytime) Coconut water (morning) Ash gourd juice

AVOID

Tea/coffee (major trigger) Cold drinks Spicy & sour foods Too much water at night Stress eating Late-night meals

LIFESTYLE TIPS

Do not drink water 2 hours before sleep Empty bladder just before bed Warm foot bath at night 10–15 minutes deep breathing Do not sit in cold places Slow walk after dinner

INVESTIGATIONS NEEDED (if not done recently)

Urine Routine + Culture Kidney Function Test HbA1c (diabetes screening) Pelvic ultrasound (to check bladder ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌emptying)

EXPECTED‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ IMPROVEMENT

With right treatment: – Night frequency goes down from 7–10 to 3–4 times in 2–3 weeks – Sleep gets better in 2 weeks –Daytime frequency decreases in 4–6 weeks – Normal bladder capacity will be back in 2–3 months ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍ Warm Regards Dr Snehal Vidhate

Frequent urination at night, known as nocturia, can be quite distressing and may stem from various imbalances. In Ayurveda, we often look at excessive urination problem through the lens of vata dosha imbalance, particularly related to Apana Vata. This imbalance causes the downward movement of water and urges.

1. Diet & Hydration: First, consider the quality and timing of your fluid intake. Try to reduce fluid intake, especially diuretics like coffee & tea, a few hours before bed. Warm barley water during the day can help gently balance fluid retention and reduction. Avoid excess spicy or salty foods, which can increase fluid needs and urination frequency.

2. Herbal Remedies: Ashwagandha, a well-known adaptogen can help support the adrenal glands and reduce anxiety, which may improve sleep and overall vitality. Gokshura (Tribulus terrestris) is another herb traditionally used to address urinary tract issues & could be effective. But, consult a qualified practitioner for precise doses.

3. Routine: Enhance your daily routine per Ayurveda principles like maintaining a warm and grounding evening routine. Engage in short pranayama practice like Anulom Vilom which balances body & mind energies, improving sleep and reducing stress.

4. Sleep Ambiance: Ensure a conducive sleeping environment by reducing light and noise disturbances. Incorporate a regular sleep schedule, going to bed, and waking up at the same time daily. Warm milk with a pinch of nutmeg before bed can encourage restful sleep.

5. Medical Attention: Despite ample improvement, it’s important to stay in consult with your healthcare provider, particularly if new symptoms emerge or your current regimen becomes ineffective, reassessing the treatment.

Addressing all these factors holistically may provide better results while supporting your ongoing therapy with TCM and acupuncture. Each adjustment at a time to observe its effect.

Frequent urination, especially at night (nocturia), can significantly disrupt sleep, leading to sleep deprivation and subsequent symptoms like headaches and dark circles under the eyes. From the perspective of Siddha-Ayurvedic tradition, this issue is often related to an imbalance in the Vata dosha, responsible for movement and elimination functions in the body.

Firstly, evening routines can impact nocturia. Before bedtime, consider limiting fluid intake, especially caffeine or alcohol, which can irritate the bladder. Aim to stop drinking fluids about 2-3 hours before sleeping to allow your bladder to empty. Similarly, avoid diuretics like tea and caffeinated drinks, which can increase urine production.

Herbal remedies such as Gokshura (Tribulus terrestris) can support urinary function as it helps strengthen the urinary system. Taking Gokshura in powder or tablet form, preferably according to the prescribed dosage by an Ayurvedic practitioner, can be beneficial in managing frequent urination symptoms.

Dietary modification is also key. Incorporate foods that pacify Vata, like warm, cooked meals, rich in ghee, whole grains, and root vegetables. Avoid dry, cold, or rough foods which can aggravate Vata. Incorporating Triphala at bedtime could assist with balancing digestion, ensuring your body’s energy isn’t distubed overnight.

Additionally, applying warm castor oil or sesame oil on the lower abdomen in a gentle massage can calm Vata and promote relaxation for better sleep. This practice should be consistent—try performing it each night for at least a few weeks to notice improvements.

Consult with a specialized Ayurvedic practitioner to customize these suggestions further and ensure they align with your prakriti and current health status. Seek professional medical advice if symptoms persist or worsen, as this can indicate underlying conditions requiring immediate medical attention.
