Doctors' responses

Difficulty in colour vision at age is usually not true colour blindness. It is more commonly due to nerve weakness, strain, dryness or circulation issues. Congenital colour blindness cannot be fully cured but acquired colour vision problems can improve if treated early

You can start with Saptamrith lauh one tablet twice daily after food with warm water Mahatriphaladi gritha 1 teaspoon with warm water at morning Isotine eye drops -one drop each eye once daily Amlaki rasayana 1 teaspoon with warm water at morning Wash eyes daily with triphala decoction (boiled, filtered, and cooled )

Do trataka exercise regularly Apply methi seeds both thumbs near the eye area ( acupressure) daily for 6 to 8 hours

Occasional blurriness supports nerve fatigue rather than permanent colour blindness Follow this for 6 to 8 weeks, then repeat the eye test

Many Patient show improvement in vision, clarity, and colour differentiation but complete correction cannot be guaranteed if the cause is genetic

Color blindness, or color vision deficiency, is mostly a genetic condition and unfortunately, there’s no cure for it available in modern medical science. Ayurvedic texts don’t specifically address color blindness, as they concern themselves primarily with broader nervous and visual system health issues. But supporting eye health through Ayurveda could potentially improve overall eye function, even if it might not directly address color vision.

First off, consider including Triphala in your daily routine. Triphala, a classic Ayurvedic formulation, is believed to support eye health due to its rejuvenating properties. Mixing a teaspoon of Triphala powder in warm water and consuming it before bed might be beneficial. Occasionally washing your eyes with a Triphala eyewash can also be part of the regimen.

Additionally, incorporate more leafy greens and colorful vegetables into your diet which are rich in antioxidants. Practicing Trataka, a Yogic eye exercise, may help strengthen your eyes over time. To do this, sit in a comfortable position, gaze steadily at a small object—like a candle or small dot on the wall—without blinking until your eyes tear up slightly, then close your eyes and visualize the image.

For color vision deficiency, practical adaptations such as special lenses or assistive technologies might aid in distinguishing colors better. Consult with an eye specialist regarding these tools to explore if they can help you meet the requirements you need for your license renewal. Discuss your situation with a professional who might suggest possible exceptions or adjustments needed for your specific tasks.
