Doctors' responses

Experiencing symptoms such as weakness, nausea, dizziness, and sleepiness alongside a rash after swimming might suggest a reaction to pool water, possibly due to chemicals like chlorine. In Ayurveda, such symptoms can be indicative of a Pitta imbalance, which deals with imbalances related to heat and digestion.

First, it is essential to address the immediate symptoms by calming the Pitta dosha. Incorporate cooling and soothing foods in your diet like cucumbers, melons, and coconut water. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and flush out toxins from your system. Aloe vera juice, taken on an empty stomach in the morning, can also help soothe internal heat and aid the skin. Try to avoid spicy, fried, and overly salty foods as they can aggravate Pitta further.

Since you’re feeling sleepy yet hungry, regulate your energy levels and digestion by eating small, frequent meals that are light on digestion yet nourishing. Foods such as basmati rice, steamed vegetables, and moong dal sou are excellent choices. Maintaining a routine for meals helps stabilize your energy throughout the day.

For the rash, using a natural paste made from sandalwood powder and rose water can provide some external relief. Apply this paste gently to the affected areas and leave it for about 15-20 minutes before rinsing off with cool water. This can have a calming effect on irritated skin.

If the dizziness continues, ensure you’re getting enough rest to allow your body to recuperate. Practice deep breathing exercises or gentle yoga to enhance circulation and balance the mind-body connection. Avoid excessive exposure to the sun or heat which could escalate Pitta.

However, considering your symptoms and the rash after swimming, it’s crucial to consult with a healthcare professional to rule out any allergic reactions or potential infections that may need immediate attention. Balancing Pitta can be a supportive measure, but do prioritize ensuring there isn’t a more severe underlying issue.
