I’ve always been curious about what is masturbation and how it affects health. I’ve heard so many different opinions—some people say it’s completely natural, while others say it can weaken the body. Does Ayurveda consider masturbation harmful, or is it only a problem if it’s excessive? I’ve read that it can reduce ojas (vital energy) and weaken the immune system. Is that true? If so, how does that work? Another thing I’m curious about is whether masturbation affects digestion, mental clarity, or physical strength. Some people say it makes them feel weak and tired, while others say it helps relieve stress. What is the actual Ayurvedic perspective on this? If anyone has knowledge about masturbation from an Ayurvedic viewpoint, I’d love to hear more about it.

Ayurveda teaches that sexual energy is a form of ojas, or vital energy, which supports immunity, strength, and mental clarity. Excessive ejaculation, especially if it leads to fatigue or mental fog, can deplete ojas over time. This doesn’t mean that masturbation is harmful in itself, but if it is done excessively or becomes compulsive, it may lead to imbalances like weakened digestion (Agni), low energy, or emotional disturbances.

However, masturbation can also have mental and emotional benefits, such as stress relief or improved sleep, which are important for balance. If you feel tired or weak afterward, it could indicate that your body is signaling a need for rest, better nutrition, or stress management.

If you experience fatigue, Ayurveda recommends strengthening ojas with nourishing foods like almonds, dates, milk, and ghee, along with herbs like ashwagandha and shatavari. Practices such as meditation and pranayama can also help balance mind and body.

So, when you’re talking about ojas and its depletion, Ayurveda does indeed connect the two. Ojas is this subtle essence, often thought of like the ultimate essence of all your dhatus (tissues). It’s, kind of, like your life force… no pressure, right? A habitual or excessive masturbation is thought to draw from that reserve, leading to potential compromises in immunity and vitality. It’s not like a one-time thing ends your ojas, but, y’know, moderation matters.

About digestion, mental clarity, and all that — it’s interesting! Overindulgence might mess with your vata dosha, causing things like anxiety and mental fog. You might feel more tired or weak if you’re, like, super regular with it because excessive secretion of vital fluid is seen as taxing. But don’t forget, for some folks, it can be a stress reliever. Less stress means improved digestion and mental clarity — it’s defo a double-edged sword.
