For your son, this looks like acute gastritis with mild constipation, mainly due to Pitta aggravation with Vata involvement and weak digestion (Mandagni). Since symptoms are < 1 week, focus on gentle correction, not strong Panchakarma immediately. Internal Ayurvedic medicines Avipattikar churna – reduces gastritis, acidity, and improves bowel movement Kamdudha ras (plain) – soothes gastric irritation (Pitta pacifying) Drakshasava (small dose after meals) – mild laxative + digestive support Triphala churna (bedtime, low dose) – for soft, natural bowel movement About Basti (medicated enema): Not first choice in acute gastritis, especially in children Can be considered later if constipation becomes chronic If needed → only Matra Basti (oil-based, mild) Diet & lifestyle (very important): Give warm, soft, easy-to-digest food (khichdi, moong dal, rice) Add ghee in small quantity (helps both Pitta & constipation) Avoid spicy, fried, sour, packaged food Encourage warm water sipping throughout the day Include ripe banana or soaked raisins for natural bowel movement

This condition is mainly due to aggravated Pitta in the stomach, causing inflammation (gastritis), along with mild Vata imbalance leading to constipation. For now, we will focus on cooling and healing the stomach with internal medicines and proper diet. Basti is not required at this stage. Light, soft, and non-spicy food should be taken, and digestion should be supported gently. – if no relief after 7 days will plan for therapy —Diagnosis: Amlapitta with mild Vibandha Rx: 1) Tab. Kamdudha Ras plain 1 tab BD after food with cold milk/water 2) Syp. Avipattikar (or Avipattikar Churna) 5 ml syrup BD after food (or 3 g churna at bedtime with lukewarm water) 3) Syp. Yashtimadhu 5 ml BD before food 4) Tab. Shankh Bhasma 1 tab BD after food 5) drakshadi kwath 10 ml tds with equal amount of water after meal —Diet Advice: Take light, soft, non-spicy food (khichdi, rice, boiled veg) Avoid spicy, fried, junk food, cold drinks Small frequent meals ----Note: No Basti required at present Review after 5 days

Hello, I am very sorry to hear your son is dealing with such a painful combination. In Ayurveda, severe gastritis (Amlapitta) mixed with constipation usually points to a Pitta-Vata imbalance where the digestive fire is “sour” and the downward movement (Apana Vayu) is blocked. Gastritis: Excess heat and acidity in the stomach. Constipation: Dryness and lack of movement in the colon. The Goal: Cool the stomach lining while gently stimulating the bowels without using harsh laxatives that could further irritate the gastritis. Internal Medicine 1. Avipathi Churnam Action: The gold standard for Amlapitta and constipation. It cools Pitta and cleanses the gut. Dose: 5 to 10 grams mixed with warm water or honey at bedtime. 2. Dadimadi Ghritam Action: Medicated ghee that heals the stomach lining (gastritis) and lubricates the intestines. Dose: 1 teaspoon on an empty stomach in the morning with a little warm water. 3. Alsactil Tablet Action: Specifically formulated for hyperacidity and gastric ulcers. Dose: 1 tablet three times a day after food. For severe cases involving both acidity and constipation, a Matra Basti (oil-based enema) is usually preferred over strong cleansing enemas to avoid irritation. Basti treatment is available any near by Ayurveda center. Medicine: Dhanwantharam Thailam or Kalyanaka Ghritam.

Hello, Since your son has acute (recent) severe gastritis + constipation, this is a pitta (inflammation) + vata (constipation) condition Important point Because symptoms are < 1 week, this is acute stage -So basti is NOT first choice now -start with gentle internal soothing treatment Internal medications gastritis healing (main) 1) Avipattikar churna= 1/2 tsp with warm water after meals =reduces acidity, burning, stomach inflammation Constipation very important 2) Gandharvahastadi kashaya= 15ml with warm water at bedtime =softens stool without irritating stomach Digestion correction 3) Dadimashtaka churna= 1/2 tsp after meals with warm water =reduces gas, improves digestion When to consider Basti? only if -constipation becomes chronic (weeks/months) -not needed in acute gastritis phase If needed later -Mild matra basti under supervision Diet most important -soft , cooling, easy food -rice + moong dal khichdi -boiled vegetables -small ghee heals lining Avoid strictly -spicy, fried food -packaged/junk food -cold drinks -very dry foods worsens constipation Daily routine -warm water sipping -regular meal timing -don’t allow long gaps -encourage mild movement Recovery timeline -2-3 days= pain and burning reduce -5-7 days= bowel improves -1-2 weeks= full recovery (if diet followed) This is acute inflammation + constipation not chronic disease -treat gently -avoid aggressive therapies like strong basti for now Do follow Hope this might be helpful Thank you
