Your symptoms are understandable, and the good news is that the digestive system appears to have largely recovered since your bowel habits are now regular. However, the persistent throat pressure/itching for more than 3 months and slow healing hemorrhoids suggest that some underlying irritation is still present rather than an ongoing infection. From a clinical and Ayurvedic perspective, the most likely causes are: Laryngopharyngeal reflux (silent acid reflux) following episodes of food poisoning and excessive carbonated drinks. This often causes throat pressure, irritation, a lump-like sensation, or discomfort while swallowing even without typical acidity. Residual inflammation of the throat and upper digestive tract, which can persist for months after repeated gastric irritation. Pitta aggravation with mild Vata involvement (Ayurvedic view), where excess heat and irritation affect the throat (Kantha) and lower rectal veins (Arsha/Hemorrhoids). Stress can also contribute by increasing throat muscle tension and reflux tendency. For treatment, I would suggest: 1. Yashtimadhu (Licorice) tablets or powder 500 mg–1 g twice daily after meals with lukewarm water for 6–8 weeks. Helps soothe throat mucosa and reduce irritation. 2. Avipattikar Churna 3–5 g at bedtime with lukewarm water. Helps control excess Pitta, acidity, and reflux tendency. 3. Arshoghni Vati 2 tablets twice daily after meals for 6 weeks. Supports healing of hemorrhoids and improves rectal circulation. 4. Triphala Churna 3 g at night with warm water if stools are not consistently soft. Prevents straining and supports long-term hemorrhoid recovery. For hemorrhoids, a warm sitz bath (10–15 minutes daily) is very beneficial. If there is irritation around the anal region, applying Jatyadi Taila locally after cleansing can help healing. Diet-wise: Continue vegetables, lentils, fruits, and adequate hydration. Reduce coffee temporarily to one small serving daily. Avoid frequent alcohol, carbonated drinks, very spicy foods, late-night meals, and overeating. Finish dinner at least 2–3 hours before sleep. Avoid prolonged sitting on the toilet and straining during bowel movements. Regarding Panchakarma, I would not advise intensive cleansing immediately. If symptoms persist despite 6–8 weeks of treatment, a supervised Mridu Virechana (gentle therapeutic purgation) may help reduce chronic Pitta aggravation and recurrent hemorrhoidal inflammation. One important point: because throat symptoms have persisted for over 3 months, I would recommend an ENT evaluation, especially if you develop difficulty swallowing, hoarseness, weight loss, persistent cough, or worsening pain. An examination can rule out reflux-related throat changes or other local causes. With proper reflux management and continued bowel care, most patients notice improvement in throat symptoms within 4–6 weeks and hemorrhoidal discomfort within 6–8 weeks. Consistency with diet, hydration, and treatment is the key. Follow up if symptoms persist or new symptoms develop.

●Going through food poisoning multiple times while drinking a lot of carbonated water is a massive blow to your digestive tract, and it makes total sense why your body is still struggling to snap back. From an Ayurvedic perspective, your body is dealing with an acute aggravation of Pitta (the fire and acid element) and Vata(the wind and dryness element). The food poisoning and carbonated water created intense heat and irritation in your stomach, causing upward-flowing acid (Amla Pitta). This is what is burning and irritating the delicate lining of your throat, leading to that persistent pressure and itching. At the same time, the downward energy (Apana Vata) got severely disrupted from the strain of illness and bowel movements, leading to congestion and hemorrhoids (Arsh) at the baseline. ●Even though you’ve made great changes by adding fiber, your tissue lining (Rasa Dhatu) is still deeply inflamed and needs targeted, soothing care to fully mend. Here is how we can address both ends of your digestive tract using traditional Ayurvedic remedies. ●●Triphala Decoction Triphala, a legendary blend of three fruits Amla, Haritaki, and Bibhitaki is packed with potent antioxidants that actively reduce swelling and repair irritated tissue. In your case, it acts as a powerful local anti-inflammatory and astringent for the upper respiratory and digestive tract, while also strengthening your throat’s natural immunity against further irritation. How to Use It: Prepare Triphala-infused water by boiling one teaspoon of Triphala Churna (powder) in a cup of water for 5 minutes. Let it cool until it is comfortably warm, strain it thoroughly through a fine cloth or mesh, and use it to gargle. Doing this twice a day will bring faster relief and the best results for that stubborn throat itching and pressure. ●●Sitopaladi & Talisadi Churna with Honey To directly calm the upward-moving irritation and coat your throat, we use a traditional compound mixture of Sitopaladi Churna and Talisadi Churna. Sitopaladi is renowned for its ability to clear congestion, calm burning sensations, and soothe irritated mucous membranes. Talisadi adds a deeper layer of warmth and digestion-modulating properties that help digest any residual toxins (Ama) lingering in your system. Combined with honey, which acts as a natural bio-enlarger (Anupana) to drive the herbs deeper into the tissues, it forms a thick, healing shield over your esophagus. How to Use It: Mix equal parts (about 1/4 teaspoon each) of Sitopaladi Churna and Talisadi Churna with a generous teaspoon of raw honey to form a smooth paste. Take this paste and slowly lick it three times a day. Do not swallow it all at once like a pill; let it sit on the back of your tongue and slowly glide down your throat to maximize its localized, soothing benefits. ●A Few Peer-to-Peer Adjustments Because you have a lot of heat (Pitta) built up right now, a few minor tweaks to your current routine will give your hemorrhoids and throat a much better chance to heal: ●Watch the Coffee and Alcohol: Both morning coffee and occasional wine or beer are highly acidic, heating, and dehydrating. They actively dry out the colon (making hemorrhoid healing much slower) and trigger the upward acid splash that irritates your throat. Try swapping morning coffee for warm chicory or a mild herbal tea, and pause the alcohol for just a couple of weeks while your tissues mend. ●Modify Your Protein: Chicken and high-protein diets require a lot of stomach acid to break down. Make sure your chicken is prepared with cooling, digestive spices like coriander, fennel, and cumin rather than heavy chili, black pepper, or garlic. ●Hydrate Mindfully:Keep up with the lentils and veggies, but ensure they are cooked well with a little bit of Ghee (clarified butter). Ghee is Ayurveda’s ultimate remedy for cooling Pitta, lubricating Vata, and softening stools so your hemorrhoids don’t face constant pressure during bowel movements. Make hot water gargle with salt or turmeric 3 times day Give your body a little time. Tissues take time to regenerate, but by soothing the throat from above and lubricating the digestive tract from within, you are setting up the perfect environment for your body to fully reset.

••From an Ayurvedic perspective, your symptoms point toward a classic manifestation of aggravated Pitta and Vata doshas, with a significant disturbance in your Agni (digestive fire). Here is how Ayurveda views what is happening in your body and a holistic approach to help you heal. ••The Ayurvedic Perspective: Root Cause The Throat Burning & Itching (Urdhvaga Amla-Pitta): The repeated bouts of food poisoning combined with highly acidic carbonated water severely provoked Pitta (heat/acidity) in your stomach. Because your Agni was compromised, food wasn’t digesting properly, leading to Amavisha (reactive digestive toxins). This heated, sour acid is moving upward, irritating the delicate mucosal lining of your throat, which causes that burning, pressure, and itching sensation when you swallow. •••The Hemorrhoids (Arshas): Hemorrhoids are primarily a Vata-Pitta disorder. The pressure and straining during bowel movements indicate Apana Vayu (the downward-moving energy responsible for elimination) is vitiated or blocked. A daily heavy protein diet (like chicken) requires an incredibly strong digestive fire. When your Agni is weak from food poisoning, this heavy protein creates dry, hard, or sticky stools, forcing Apana Vayu to exert upward and outward pressure, swelling the rectal veins. •••The Holistic Healing Protocol To heal both ends of the digestive tract, we need to simultaneously cool the excess Pitta, regulate Vata’s downward flow, and gently rekindle your Agni without adding heat. 1. Dietary Adjustments for Healing While adding fiber from lentils and veggies is a great step, how you eat them matters right now. •••Switch to Easy-to-Digest Proteins: Temporarily reduce your intake of heavy chicken, especially if it is fried or heavily spiced. Instead, fulfill your protein needs with Moong Dal (yellow split mung beans). Moong dal is the most Agni-friendly protein in Ayurveda; it builds tissue without aggravating Pitta or creating gas. •••Modify Your Fiber: Raw veggies will aggravate Vata and cause more gas/pressure. Ensure all your vegetables are well-cooked, soft, and prepared with small amounts of cooling, digestive spices like fennel, cumin, and coriander. •••Coffee & Alcohol: Avoid coffee (especially on an empty stomach) and alcohol entirely for the next few weeks. Both are highly heating (Ushna), sharp (Tikshna), and dry out the colon while inflaming the throat. 2. Soothing the Upper GI & Throat (Pitta Pacification) •••Licorice Root Tea (Yastimadhu): Licorice is highly demulcent, meaning it coats and soothes irritated mucous membranes. Drinking a warm cup of licorice tea 20 minutes before meals will create a protective barrier in your throat and stomach lining, reducing the itching and burning. ••Fennel-Coriander Water: Soak 1 teaspoon of fennel seeds and 1 teaspoon of coriander seeds in a cup of water overnight. Strain and drink it at room temperature in the morning. This is an incredibly cooling remedy for internal heat. 3. Healing the Colon & Hemorrhoids (Vata Regulation) •••Psyllium Husk (Isabgol) with Warm Milk or Water: To soothe the hemorrhoids, the stool must be completely effortless to pass. Take 1-2 teaspoons of organic psyllium husk in a glass of warm water or warm milk at bedtime. This adds bulk and lubrication, ensuring Apana Vayu flows smoothly without straining. •••Amla (Indian Gooseberry): Amla is unique because it is highly cooling to Pitta but also regulates bowel movements and strengthens the blood vessels (veins) around the rectum. You can take 1 teaspoon of Amla powder with water twice a day. •••Local Relief (Sitz Bath): Sit in a tub of warm water for 15 minutes daily. You can add a decoction of Triphala powder to the water, which acts as an excellent astringent and anti-inflammatory agent to shrink the hemorrhoidal tissue. •••An Important Note on Agni: Healing takes time because the gut lining needs to regenerate. Avoid drinking cold water with your meals, as it douses your digestive fire. Stick to warm or room-temperature water.

Your symptoms suggest that the stomach and throat may still be recovering from the severe digestive upset you experienced a few months ago. The persistent throat pressure and itching may be due to acid reflux (including silent reflux), chronic throat irritation, allergies, or stress-related throat muscle tension. ----For now, avoid coffee on an empty stomach, alcohol, spicy foods, fried foods, and late-night meals. Drink plenty of water and avoid lying down immediately after eating. Continue a high-fiber diet with vegetables, fruits, and lentils, and maintain adequate hydration. ----Regarding the hemorrhoids, healing can take time. Avoid straining during bowel movements, do not sit on the toilet for prolonged periods, and continue taking sufficient fiber and fluids. Warm sitz baths may help reduce discomfort. Since the throat symptoms have persisted for more than three months, an ENT or —Gastroenterology consultation is recommended for further evaluation. Investigations such as throat examination (laryngoscopy), assessment for acid reflux, and routine blood tests may be required if symptoms continue. —Seek medical attention sooner if you develop difficulty swallowing, persistent hoarseness, unexplained weight loss, significant rectal bleeding, or worsening symptoms. ----Suggested Investigations: CBC ENT Examination / Laryngoscopy GERD/LPR Evaluation Stool Examination (if bowel symptoms recur) Thyroid Profile (if throat pressure persists) Upper GI Endoscopy -----Rx: 1) Avipattikar Churna – 3 g with lukewarm water BD before meals 2) Kamdudha Ras (Moti Yukta) – 1 tab BD after meals 3) Yashtimadhu Vati – 1 tab to suck slowly TDS 4) Triphala Churna – 5 g with lukewarm water at bedtime HS 5) Arshoghni Vati – 2 tabs BD after meals 6) Jatyadi Taila (local application) Apply externally over hemorrhoidal area BD —Pathya (Diet & Lifestyle): Take warm, freshly prepared meals. Increase vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and adequate water intake. Avoid excessive coffee, alcohol, carbonated drinks, spicy, fried, sour, and processed foods. Avoid late-night meals and lying down immediately after eating. Do not strain during bowel movements. Sitz bath with warm water for 10–15 minutes once or twice daily.

Your symptoms suggest persistent throat irritation, possibly related to acid reflux, gastritis, or post-inflammatory changes after repeated stomach infections. Hemorrhoids may be healing slowly due to ongoing bowel strain, exercise-related pressure, or incomplete correction of digestion. Take For throat irritation and burning: Yashtimadhu (Licorice) Churna 2 g with warm water twice daily after food. Avipattikar Churna 3–5 g at bedtime with warm water for 4–6 weeks. Avoid coffee on an empty stomach, alcohol, spicy foods, carbonated drinks, and late-night meals. For hemorrhoids: Triphala Churna 3–5 g at bedtime with warm water. Abhayarishta 15–20 ml with equal water after meals twice daily. Sitz bath with warm water for 10–15 minutes twice daily. Diet: Increase vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and water intake. Avoid excessive straining during bowel movements. Reduce heavy weight lifting temporarily if it worsens hemorrhoidal symptoms. Dr RC BAMS MS
