The urinary system – consists of the kidneys, the urethra (the tubes that connect the kidneys and the bladder), the bladder, and the urethra (the tube that connects the bladder to the outside of the body). ).

Urinary organs work to remove waste from the body, regulate blood volume and blood pressure, control electrolyte and metabolite levels, and regulate blood pH.

Urine contains by-products of the body’s metabolism – salts, toxins, and water.     

Problems in the urinary system can be caused by aging, illness, congenital disorders, or injury.

In Ayurveda, the conditions affecting the kidneys and urinary tract are termed Mutravahasrota Roga and the ones affecting the urethra and bladder are known as Mutraghata.
