Acid reflux with burning in the throat rather than the chest often indicates that the acid may be reaching the upper throat, a condition sometimes referred to as laryngopharyngeal reflux. Along with bloating and feeling full, these symptoms can be understood from an Ayurvedic perspective. In Ayurveda, this may be associated with an imbalance in the Pitta dosha, as it governs digestion and metabolism.

Firstly, dietary changes are essential. Avoid spicy, oily, and processed foods that aggravate Pitta. Focus on consuming cooling foods such as cucumber, zucchini, and coriander, which help soothe the digestive tract. Meals should be regular, and smaller portion size are more manageable for the digestive fire, or Agni. Incorporate cooked leafy greens, like spinach, along with whole grains like rice and quinoa, which are gentle on the stomach.

Consider incorporating herbal remedies. Mixing one teaspoon of amla (Indian gooseberry) powder with warm water and taking it once daily can help balance Pitta and soothe irritation in your throat. Aloe vera juice is also beneficial; consume about 30 ml in the morning on an empty stomach. Fennel seeds or tea after meals can assist in reducing bloating and fullness.

Lifestyle adjustments matter too. Avoid lying down immediately after eating; try walking or sitting upright for at least 30 minutes post-meal. Minimize stress, as it can exacerbate Pitta imbalances; mindfullness practices like yoga or breathing exercises can be helpful. Elevate the head while sleeping to prevent acid from reaching the throat.

Be cautious with self-medication and consult a healthcare provider if symptoms persist. They could provide further evaluation a and management. Medical intervention might be necessary if home remedies don’t alleviate your symptoms or if they’re severe. Remember regular health check-ups are important, particularly for persistent symptoms.
