Spotting between your periods can definitely be disconcerting, especially when you're trying to conceive. At 44, age plays a significant role in fertility, and hormonal fluctuations may lead to spotting like you're experiencing. Evening Primrose oil is known for its benefits in promoting cervical mucus production, however in rare cases, it could also contribute to the irregularities in menstrual cycles, such as intermenstrual spotting. Before discontinuing its use, you may want to consult with a healthcare professional. First off, let's assess your dosha. At your age, Vata can often become dominant, which might impact your menstrual cycle by producing irregularities or signs of dryness, like spotting caused by less lubrication. It's important to balance Vata through your diet and lifestyle, to ensure your reproductive tissues (Shukra dhatu) are well nourished. Dietarily, ensure that you consume warm, nourishing foods. Soups, stews with a good amount of ghee can help in this regard. Include sweet, salty, and sour tastes. Avoid cold, raw foods, which could aggravate Vata. Consider consuming warm milk with a pinch of saffron or a little ashwagandha in it, before bed, as it's beneficial for reproductive tissue and balances Vata. Maintain a consistent daily routine; go to bed and wake up at the same time. Gentle yoga, meditation, and Pranayama can be excellent. They not only balance Vata but ease stress and anxiety that come with trying to conceive. Additionally, herbs like Ashwagandha and Shatavari are renowned in Ayurveda for supporting female reproductive health. They should be taken under the guidance of an Ayurvedic professional. You might also consider consulting an Ayurvedic practitioner about regular Abhyanga (self-massage with warm oil) to soothe and stabilize Vata imbalance. Still, given the possibility of spotting due to medical reasons, it's crucial to visit a healthcare provider who can rule out any underlying health issues like hormonal imbalances or uterine conditions, ensuring that no major health concern gets overlooked. If spotting persists or increases, a timely medical consultation is necessary.
