In addressing issues related to eye power and chronic conditions like yours, a thoughtful ayurvedic approach is vital. While complete "cure" of refractive errors may not be possible through Ayurveda, there are ways to potentially improve and manage your symptoms. Firstly, it's imperative to recognize the root imbalances according to your Ayurvedic constitution. Eye-related issues often correlate to Pitta dosha imbalanc, though Kapha imbalances can also play a role. Addressing these could alleviate irritations and support eye health. For managing eye power and deterioration, incorporating Tratak meditation practice could be beneficial. This involves focusing on a steadily burning candle flame from a safe distance, assisting in strengthening eye muscles over time. Do this in the evenings or mornings when atmosphere is calm. Remember not to strain—gentleness is key. Concerning the frequent itching, soothing eye washes using triphala kwath (decoction) is often recommended. Boil one teaspoon triphala powder in a glass of water, cool and strain well. Rinse eyes gently once daily, ensuring the decoction is cool enough to touch. It calm irritation and support overall eye health. Dietarily, focus on including more foods that support eye health - like carrots, spinach, almonds and a teaspoon of desi ghee (clarified butter). These are known to contribute to nutritional support for eye health. Keeping hydrated and avoiding excess spicy or heat-inducing foods could further balance Pitta. Regular practice of eye yoga, such as palming - rubbing palms together, then gently covering your closed eyes with them without pressing - may help in reducing strain. Given that eye health can be complex and individualized, you might want to seek professional Ayurvedic practitioner guidance, particularly if it's been persisting for 15 years. They could offer tailored treatments, including potentially beneficial Panchakarma therapies, personalized to your constitution. If any symptoms persist in severity, consulting an eye specialist is also crucial, especially when dealing with vision impairment of such degrees, to rule out any further complications. This bridges Ayurvedic care with necessary modern medical oversight.
