Doctors’ responses

Hey, sorry to hear about your struggle with your eye power and itching. Let's dive into this from an ayurvedic angle, okay? First off, those significant minus numbers, they usually indicate a high myopia, and truth be told, Ayurveda isn't going to give you a magical fix that'll zero out those numbers. Modern interventions like glasses or contacts, and maybe even considering corrective surgeries, might continue being necessary. That being said, Ayurvedic practices can definitely help improve your overall eye health and relieve some discomfort. Let's focus on the itching first. Itchy eyes, often a pitta imbalance or due to dryness. Try this: Wash your eyes with triphala-infused water twice a day. To prepare it, soak a teaspoon of triphala powder in warm water overnight, strain in the morning, and use the water to rinse your eyes. It’s soothing and can reduce irritation. Diet-wise, include Amla in your diet - it's rich in Vitamin C and beneficial for eye health. You can consume it as a fruit, juice, or even in its powdered form. Give this a shot: Triphala ghee. Take one teaspoon daily – it works great for nourishing the eyes and balancing doshas. Lifestyle changes can do wonders, too. Do you spend lots of time on screens? Take frequent breaks - the 20-20-20 rule might be helpful: Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away, for at least 20 seconds. And here's a tip: Practice Nasya with Anu taila (2-3 drops in each nostril) after waking up. This lubricating oil can help improve circulation in the area. Also, gently practice eye exercises. Rolling them slowly in circular motion, and focus exercises using your finger are beneficial. Now, don’t ditch necessary medical treatment or exams from professionals. It's crucial to keep your vision intact. Always consult your eye care guys; Ayurveda can complement but not substitute critical treatments. Hope these tips help a bit!
