how to cure gastritis permanently - #44574

Harper

I am dealing with this annoying gastritis issue for about six months now. Like, I was just eating my regular food when BAM! Suddenly, I was hit with the worst stomach cramps and a bloated feeling that wouldn’t go away! I've tried a bunch of over-the-counter meds, but honestly, they seem to just mask the problem, you know? I've had some tests done, and they told me it's gastritis, but I really don’t wanna go on just living with this. Like, how to cure gastritis permanently? I've been reading up on Ayurveda and some natural remedies but got so confused. People say stuff like ginger tea might help, or avoiding spicy foods, which sounds great but I honestly love my spices, haha! 😅 Isn’t there something more effective? Also, I’ve heard about some herbs like licorice and turmeric being good for gut health. Does anyone know how to use those or if they really work? I just feel like I keep going in circles with this. I’m soooo ready to get rid of this gastritis for good, not just putting a band-aid on it! If anyone has actually cured their gastritis permanently, please share your secrets!

Doctors' responses

Gastritis is indeed a challenging condition to manage, but with Ayurveda’s comprehensive approach, you can work towards addressing the root causes and potentially find long-term relief. Gastritis, as you know, results from inflammation of the stomach lining and can be linked to an imbalance in the Pitta dosha. The following recommendations are based on this understanding and offer a multi-faceted approach to help you manage and potentially cure your gastrititis:

1. Evaluate Your Diet: As much you enjoy spicy foods, it’s important to evaluate whether they trigger your symptoms. Try to minimize excessively spicy, sour, and oily foods, focusing instead on cooling and soothing meals that nourish your system. Incorporate more cooling herbs and spices like cilantro and fennel.

2. Use Aloe Vera Juice: Aloe Vera is known for its soothing and anti-inflammatory effect. Take 1/4 cup of aloe vera juice on an empty stomach in the morning. Ensure the juice is free from added sugars or preservatives.

3. Turmeric & Licorice: Both have anti-inflammatory and stomach-soothing properties. Mix a pinch of turmeric powder in a glass of warm milk and drink it before bed. Licorice, best taken in the form of tea, can be consumed throughout the day; steep the licorice root for about 10 minutes to extract its benefits.

4. Ginger Tea Wisely: Though ginger is recommended in some cases of gastritis due to its ability to promote digestion, it can be too warming for some people, especially when Pitta is high. Limit or avoid if it exacerbates symptoms, otherwise a mild ginger tea post meals could help.

5. Manage Stress: Stress can exacerbate Pitta imbalances and inflame your gastritis further. Regular practices like Yoga and Meditation are highly recommended—they can keep your stress levels in check and promote overall well-being.

6. Regular Eating Schedule: Eating at irregular hours can disturb your Agni (digestive fire), making gastritis worse. Stick to fixed meal times, and avoid overeating. Chew your food thoroughly and eat in a calm environment.

7. Consult an Ayurveda Practitioner: Since Ayurveda is highly personalized, consider visiting a qualified practitioner for tailored guidance, herb prescriptions, and Panchakarma therapies like Virechana, which can help detoxify the body.

Making these changes isn’t an overnight fix, but consistency with these practices can contribute significantly to relieving and potentially resolving your gastritis condition. Remember to consult with healthcare professionals to ensure these suggestions complement your current health needs!
