You can gently hold the baby in an upright position or place the baby on your shoulder and pat slowly. Light rocking and swaddling can also help in soothing. At home, you can do gentle tummy massage using a little warm coconut oil in clockwise direction, followed by mild warm compress (not too hot). This helps in relieving gas. Mother’s diet also plays a role during breastfeeding. Try to avoid very spicy, gas-forming foods like excess cabbage, chana, or heavy fried items, as it can sometimes affect the baby.
