Is it normal for Acnovin cream to cause dryness and breakouts while treating acne? - #22591

Lucas

I am kinda freaking out about my skin lately. So I’ve been using this acnovin cream for my acne, right? I thought it was going well at first, but now I’m not sure. My face felt smoother in the beginning, but now it seems super dry and a bit flaky, which is weird 'cause I also noticed some more breakouts, mainly around my cheeks and forehead! I did some research and found that acnovin cream helps, but this dryness is really bothering me! Is it normal to feel dry when using acnovin cream, or am I doing something wrong? I also wonder if it’s okay to combine it with my regular moisturizer? I mean, I want to get rid of the acne but not like this! Should I keep using it or take a break? Oh, and by the way, I’ve been drinking more water and trying to eat healthier, but honestly, my skin’s gone a little crazy! Any advice would be super helpful! Thanks!

The experiences you're having with acnovin cream, including dryness and breakouts, can sometimes occur when initially introducing new products to your skincare routine. Acnovin, like many herbal formulations, works by balancing the doshas and detoxifying the skin, but it's not uncommon for the skin to undergo a bit of a 'purging phase.' During this period, impurities within the skin may come to the surface, resulting in new breakouts. Dryness is another side effect that may happen because acnovin might be altering the current oil balance in your skin. In Ayurveda, this can relate to an imbalance in the Vata dosha, which, when aggravated, can manifest as dry skin. The use of a moisturizer alongside acnovin cream is generally acceptable, especially if it's one that's non-comedogenic and suitable for acne-prone skin. Applying it once the acnovin cream has absorbed, can help mitigate some of the dryness you're experiencing. While using acnovin, it's essential also to monitor how your skin responds over time. Breaks can be beneficial; giving a pause for a week might allow your skin to rebalance itself before you continue using the product. Alongside topical treatments, focus on maintaining a diet rich in fresh fruits, vegetables, and plenty of water - these support the body's natural cleansing processes. Avoid heavy, oily, or fried foods that can aggravate Pitta, often linked with inflammatory skin issues like acne. If the dryness and breakouts continue or worsen, it might be worthwhile to consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner, who can offer advice tailored particularly to your prakriti (your inherent constitution) and ensure that what you're using is appropriate and restoring balance to your skin's needs. Remember, when dealing with skin concerns like acne, patience and consistency are key, but do pay attention to your body's response, and adjust your approach as needed for optimal results.
