can i use multani mitti on face everyday - #23239

Harper

I am battling some really annoying oily skin issues lately, and I've read that Multani Mitti is great for soaking up excess oil. I’ve used it a couple of times and it feels awesome after washing it off. But, I’m wondering, can I use multani mitti on face everyday? Like, I've seen varying opinions online—some say it’s fantastic for daily use while others warn it could dry out my skin. My skin sometimes gets flaky after trying new stuff, so a little scared to overdo it. If anyone has experience with using multani mitti daily, like does it actually helps balance oil without making it worse?? Any tips would be super helpful!

Using multani mitti, or Fuller's Earth, every day can potentially help manage oily skin due to its absorbent properties, but daily use might not be for everyone, especially if your skin tends to get flaky or dry with new treatments. Ayurveda, however, offers a holistic approach to skin care that respects your individual prakriti—your natural constitution. Multani mitti is excellent for pitta and kapha dosha imbalances, which often manifest as oily skin. But daily application could lead to excessive drying especially if other factors are present, like vata imbalance, which can increase dryness. If your skin shows signs of tightness, excessive flakiness, or feel sensitive after use, it might be a sign that it's time to scale back a bit. Consider using it 2-3 times a week instead. This can strike a balance between absorbing excess oil and keeping your skin from becoming too dry. If you notice your skin drying out, Ayurveda would suggest combining multani mitti with hydrating elements like rose water or aloe vera gel. This combination can help soothe your skin while replenishing moisture. Here's a simple routine: Mix a tablespoon of multani mitti with rose water (for hydration) or plain water, and apply it evenly on your face. Keep it on until almost dry, then rinse with lukewarm water. Always follow up with a light moisturizer suitable for oily skin types. Pay attention to your diet as well, since what you eat can affect your skin's condition. Favor foods that balance both vata and pitta doshas – cooling, nutrient-rich, and unprocessed foods like cucumbers, leafy greens, and fresh fruits can be beneficial. Stay hydrated, but avoid excess caffeine and spicy, oily foods, as these can exacerbate oil production. Keep an eye on how your skin responds and adjust frequency and ingredients accordingly. If flakiness persists or you encounter severe irritation, consulting with a dermatologist or an Ayurvedic practitioner might be a good next step. Always prioritize your skin's individual needs and responses.
