Open pores and dry hair with dandruff can be quite bothersome, but Ayurveda has some insightful remedies that might help. Let’s start with the open pores issue. Open pores are often linked to excess Pitta and Kapha, so a good way to manage them is to use a natural exfoliator. Mix equal parts of chickpea flour (besan) and sandalwood powder with a pinch of turmeric and add enough rosewater to form a paste. Apply this on your face gently, leave it on for about 15 minutes, and rinse with lukewarm water. Do this 2-3 times a week. It’s crucial not to over-exfoliate though, as that can irritate the skin.
For the dandruff and hair issues, consider coconut oil massages. Warm some coconut oil and massage into your scalp gently. Leave it for a few hours or overnight, then wash it off with a mild Ayurvedic shampoo. This helps in reducing dandruff and frizzy ness. Use neem-based shampoos which are gentle and combat dandruff effectively. Also, you could try a hair pack made of yogurt and fenugreek seeds. Soak fenugreek seeds overnight, make them into a paste, mix with yogurt and apply it to your scalp, leave it for an hour before washing.
Hydration is indeed important. Drink 8-10 glasses of water daily and include more hydrating foods like cucumbers, and melons in your diet. At the same time, try to limit spicy, oily, and processed foods which can contribute to imbalances.
Remember that these things do not change overnight and regular consistent application and care is needed. If things don’t improve or worsen, it’s wise to consult a physician for a more detailed assessment personalized to your condition.
