how to use kumkumadi tailam - #23711

William

I am really confused about how to use kumkumadi tailam! There’s so much info out there, and I just don’t know where to start. A couple weeks ago, my skin started looking dull and flaky, like super dry? I read that kumkumadi tailam could really help with hydration and brightness, but I want to make sure I’m using it the right way. I've been applying a few drops once a day, but I feel like maybe that’s not enough, or too much? Sometimes I also mix it with my moisturizer, but then I read that mixing it isn’t a good idea? Arghhhh! Like, is it better to use it at night or in the morning? Should it be applied on clean dry skin or what? I’ve also seen recommendations on massaging it in…but how long? Feels like so many questions! I really hope to get this right, because my skin has been bugging me and I just want to feel good again. Can anyone share their experiences or tips on how to use kumkumadi tailam properly? Thanks!

Kumkumadi Tailam is a fantastic Ayurvedic oil, revered for its ability to enhance the skin’s radiance and address concerns like dryness or dullness. Navigating through various advice can indeed be overwhelming, but here’s a straightforward way to incorporate this oil into your routine effectively.

Firstly, using Kumkumadi Tailam at night can actually be more beneficial, as our skin repairs itself while we sleep. Applying a few drops – around 3 to 5 – is sufficient for most. Begin by cleansing your face thoroughly with a gentle cleanser and ensure your skin is clean and dry. Then, gently warm the oil by rubbing it between your palms.

Apply the oil using upward, circular motions, which can enhance absorption and blood circulation. A gentle massage for about 5 minutes helps in ensuring the oil penetrates well into your skin, improving its overall texture and tone. This technique also aids in relaxing your facial muscles, promoting a more youthful appearance.

Regarding mixing with moisturizers, it’s advisable to apply it directly to your skin as it allows the oil to work its magic uninterrupted. If kumkumadi tailam is too rich or heavy for your taste, you can apply a light moisturizer afterwards.

You mentioned your skin is flaky and dry, so it’s essential also to maintain proper hydration and eat a Vata-pacifying diet, rich in healthy fats like ghee, nuts, and sesame, which may nourish your skin from the inside out.

Continue with this routine consistently for a few weeks, observe how your skin responds, and adjust the amount if needed. If your skin shows irritation or discomfort, it’s best to consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner for personalized advice. Remember, patience and consistency key when harnessing the power of Ayurveda—it can offer amazing results over time.

Thanks so much for clarifying this! I had no idea mixing meds could be risky. I'll stick to my doctor's meds and look into Ayurveda separately.
