which oil best for hair growth - #23741
I am really trying to figure out which oil best for hair growth since I've been struggling with thinning hair for a few months now. I guess it started after I went through a stressful time at work, and I noticed my hair was just falling out more, like, it was really alarming! I've tried a few things, like a biotin supplement and maybe some random shampoos that promised miracle results, but nothing seems to work. I heard about different oils, and I've read that coconut oil and castor oil are good for hair growth, but is there a better choice? Also, does mixing oils work better, or should I stick to just one? My scalp is kinda oily already, which might complicate things, and I don’t want to make it worse. Maybe I should just focus on one? Ugh, I just want my hair to grow back! If anyone’s had success or has suggestions on which oil best for hair growth, I really need your input! Thanks a ton!

When considering oils for hair growth, Ayurveda gives preference to oils that balance doshas and nourish the scalp and hair roots. It sounds like stress may have played a role in your hair issues—often an increase in Vata could be to blame for hair thinning. Two oils that often come up in Ayurveda for promoting hair growth are Bhringraj oil and Amla oil.
Bhringraj oil is considered rejuvenating and said to increase hair growth, boosts blood circulation in the scalp and condition the hair deeply. Amla oil, on the other hand, is high in Vitamin C and antioxidants, which fortifies hair from the roots, assisting in growth, and reducing hair loss. Since you already have an oily scalp, using a light oil like Bhringraj could be beneficial.
Regarding mixing oils, it can be effective. Some people find a combination of Bhringraj and Amla works great, or even a blend with coconut oil given its moisturizing properties. However, be careful with coconut oil if your scalp is oily as it can make the hair greasy if over-applied.
Application wise, warm up the oil slightly (not too hot) and apply it on your scalp once or twice a week, massaging it in gently to improve circulation. Leave it on for at least 1 hour before washing it out with a gentle shampoo.
Don’t forget, Stress management is pivotal too. Incorporating practices like yoga, pranayama, or meditation could help manage stress levels. Also, focusing on a balanced diet with enough iron, zinc, and proteins will be vital to support hair health.
Lastly, if the hair loss continues unabated, consult a healthcare provider to rule out any underlying health issues.
