how to use onion juice for hair growth - #24305

Ella

I am really struggling with hair loss lately, and I'm looking for natural remedies. A friend mentioned how to use onion juice for hair growth, and I’m curious about it! I read somewhere that onion juice can be good for stimulate hair follicles, but I haven’t had the guts to try it yet. Like, I mean, my scalp can be super sensitive, and I can't imagine how onions would feel, right? I’ve tried other stuff like those fancy oils and vitamins, but honestly, nothing seems to be working. I always get these weird patches where hair just refuses to grow. Just last week, I did a patch test with the juice, and although it didn’t sting much, I wasn’t sure if I should apply it all over. Should I just go for it? Also, how often do I need to use onion juice for hair growth to see some real changes? Like, do I need to mix it with something or just apply straight? Any advice would be super helpful. Feeling kinda lost here!

Hair loss can indeed be a frustrating experience, and exploring natural remedies like onion juice is a beneficial step. Onion juice is known in Ayurveda for its sulfur content, which can potentially improve circulation to hair follicles and promote hair growth. However, your concern about sensitive scalp is valid.

Considering you have already done a patch test and noticed no irritation, it’s a good starting sign. Typically, you can apply onion juice alone, but for sensitive scalps, mixing it with a soothing carrier oil like coconut or olive oil could be advantageous to minimize any potential irritation. It’s important to use freshly squeezed onion juice, around 2-4 tablespoons, applied to the scalp. Mixing it with one or two tablespoons of oil can help ease sensitivity.

For a balanced approach, consider using it twice a week. This frequency can allow you to identify any potential adverse reactions early and adjust usage as needed. It’s generally recommended to leave it on for about 30 minutes to an hour before gently washing it off with a mild, herbal shampoo to remove any lingering odor.

Additionally, think about your diet and lifestyle. According to Ayurveda, balancing your doshas and supporting your agni (digestive fire) will be beneficial. Include plenty of leafy greens, whole grains, nuts, and seeds which are nourishing for hair health. Seit back on processed foods and excessive caffeine, which can potentially aggravate hair fall.

Remember to relax, as stress can also contribute to hair loss. Regular yoga or meditation could prove helpful to manage stress levels. Lastly, if you notice any red flags like burning or intense itching, discontinue the onion juice and consult with a healthcare professional, as your sensitivity could require a different approach.

Should you observe no improvement after consistent use or notice any scalp irritation, it might be best to consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner to explore other dosha-specific remedies personalized to your constitution.

Thanks so much for clarifying this! I had no idea mixing meds could be risky. I'll stick to my doctor's meds and look into Ayurveda separately.
