can we use multani mitti daily on face - #24307

Anna

I am really curious about this multani mitti thing because I keep hearing people rave about it, right? A few months back, I started breaking out a lot — like, no joke, my face looked like a pizza! I tried so many products nothing worked. Then my friend suggested multani mitti for my oily skin. It was a game changer! My skin got much better after just a couple of uses. But now, I wonder, can we use multani mitti daily on face? I’ve been applying it maybe 2-3 times a week, but I’m thinking maybe I should do it more often? Like, will all those benefits just keep increasing if I use multani mitti daily? I read it helps with oil control and brightening, but I’m kinda scared of overdoing it, y'know? What if my skin gets too dry or something?? 🤔 Also, should I mix it with anything else or just straight-up apply it? Really would appreciate some pro tips on this! Thanks!

Using multani mitti, or Fuller's Earth, daily on your face isn't generally recommended. While it's fantastic for absorbing excess oil and can really help with breakouts for those with oily skin, using it every day might strip your skin of its natural oils, leading to dryness or irritation. This is because multani mitti is naturally drying due to its absorbent properties. For most skin types, applying it about 2-3 times a week is ideal, as you've been doing. That frequency helps in managing oil content without over-drying the skin. If you start using it daily, you risk upsetting the balance of your skin's sebum production, which can sometimes lead to your glands producing even more oil to compensate, potentially causing breakouts to worsen. Therefore, moderation is key here. For application, you might consider mixing multani mitti with rose water, which can help soothe and tone the skin, or with milk for added moisture if you're worried about dryness. You may try adding a bit of honey for its antibacterial and hydrating properties, especially if your skin starts feeling tight. Always make sure to do a patch test first to avoid any potential allergic reactions. Ayurvedic principles would suggest also looking at lifestyle and diet to balance your doshas, particularly focusing on pitta if you have oily skin. Staying hydrated, avoiding excessively spicy or oily foods, and maintaining a balanced lifestyle can all contribute to healthier skin from within. Also, try to keep your skin clean with a gentle cleanser and maintain a regular skincare routine that includes moisturizing, as even oily skin needs moisture, just of the non-comedogenic kind.
