how to apply methi on hair - #24351

Stella

I am honestly at my wit's end with my hair lately! I've been struggling with thinning hair and, no joke, it drives me crazy! I heard about methi and how to apply methi on hair can help with that, but I don’t really know where to start. A friend mentioned soaking the seeds overnight and then making a paste, but is that really how you should do it? I tried it once but it ended up being such a mess! I think I might've added too much water? I dunno. I just remember it was kinda sticky and hard to wash out. If anyone's got tips on how to apply methi on hair without making a total disaster, I would really appreciate it! I’d love to hear about what has worked for others too. Like, is there a specific timeframe for leaving that paste on your hair? And can you mix it with other stuff? I’m just looking for any guidance on how to apply methi on hair effectively! Thanks a ton!

Applying methi, or fenugreek, to your hair can indeed be beneficial, especially for thinning issues. Fenugreek seeds are rich in proteins and nicotinic acid which strengthen hair shafts. Plus, trigonelline in methi fights hair loss. Start by soaking two tablespoons of methi seeds in water overnight—around 8 to 12 hours. This softens them. The water used is precious too, so don't waste it. Come morning, the seeds will be plump. Next step is to grind these seeds into a smooth paste. Be cautious here: minimal water is key. You want a creamy consistency that's spreadable without dripping. If it's too watery, add some more ground seeds. Now, prior to application, here's a solid tip: add a tablespoon of yogurt or coconut oil to the paste, especially if you have a dry scalp. These enrich the paste and make it easier to rinse out later. Apply the paste across your scalp evenly, like you would a hair mask. Start with the roots then work through to the tips. Let it set in your hair for about 30 to 45 minutes, not excessively long or it’ll become difficult to wash out. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water, combing to remove remnants. You may need to shampoo twice, it's okay. Avoid harsh shampoos that could strip your hair of natural oils. As for frequency, this treatment is effective when done once a week over consistent weeks. Remember though, everyone’s hair responds differently. If it's still messy, consider mixing in a little honey to help. Before starting any treatment, be sure to patch-test for allergies. In case your symptoms of hair thinning persists or are severe, consulting with a trichologist alongside Ayurvedic remedies could be worthwhile.
