how to apply aloevera gel on face - #24970

Allison

I am currently dealing with really dry skin, and I heard aloe vera can do wonders! I bought this nice aloe vera gel from a local shop, and I want to use it right but I'm kinda confused about how to apply aloe vera gel on face properly. Like, do I just slather it all over? I've tried doing that, but then it feels sticky and I’m not sure if I’m supposed to rinse it off or leave it on. Also, I read somewhere that different skin types might need different methods for how to apply aloe vera gel on face, which makes me wonder if I should do something special for my dry skin. Do I need to mix it with something else? Any tips on how to apply aloe vera gel on face for hydration would be super helpful. A friend mentioned doing it before bed is best too, but I’m a lil lost. Thanks a ton in advance!

For dry skin, applying aloe vera gel can indeed be really beneficial, providing soothing hydration. It’s quite natural, especially for drier skin types, to try and figure out the best ways to incorporate this gel. Aloe vera is known in Ayurveda to balance Pitta dosha and sometimes Vata when it comes to hydration. Applying aloe vera gel on face is not just slathering it on randomly, there are few considerations to keep in mind to gain optimal benefits. First, cleanse your face with a gentle, non-drying cleanser. It's important to clear any dirt or oil to let aloe penetrate properly. After drying your face, take a small amount of aloe vera gel. If your gel feels thick and sticky, try diluting it with a little rose water or pure water. It’ll help lighten it up so it’s less tacky when you put it on. For dry skin, it might be good to combine aloe vera gel with a bit of a hydrating carrier oil like almond oil or jojoba oil. Which will provide extra nourishment - blend a small ratio, like half a teaspoon of oil to two teaspoons aloe. Massage gently all over your face using upwards circular motions, this not only spreads it evenly but also promotes blood circulation. Once applied, you can either leave it on for about 30 minutes and then rinse it off with lukewarm water or if it suits your skin, leave it on overnight. When used overnight, aloe vera can work its magic without interruptions. If you choose to leave it overnight, apply a small amount initially to see how your skin responds in the morning. Since you're experiencing dryness, consider an evening routine as it allows hydration while you rest. Make sure to monitor your skin's response as everyone's skin is unique. If you experience irritation, reduce the usage frequency. Address any potential causes of your dryness too—adequate water intake, a diet rich in healthy fats and incorporating warming spices like ginger and cinnamon can support your skin health from within. Limit exposure to harsh winds and heating systems which can dry the skin even more.
