is eating curd good for hair - #25750

Addison

I am really confused about this whole thing with curd. Lately, I've been hearing people say that eating curd is good for hair! Like, seriously? A few weeks ago, I noticed my hair looking really dull and falling out more than usual. I started a new diet, trying to be healthier, but I'm not sure if it's helping or making things worse. I found out that curd is packed with nutrients, but I can't figure out how much I should be eating for it to actually make a difference. I usually just add some curd to my meals, but I'm not eating it every day. I also stumbled across some articles saying that applying curd to my scalp could help too. Is eating curd good for hair? Should I be eating it more, or is it enough if I just mix it in with my meals? And what about other ways to use curd for my hair? How long before I can see results? Starting to feel really frustrated about my hair situation. Any advice would be amazing!

Curd indeed holds space in Ayurveda for promoting overall health, including healthy hair. Eating curd can benefit hair due to its rich nutrient profile, like calcium and vitamins, which strengthen hair roots. For hair, though, Ayurveda focuses more on balancing doshas. If you're experiencing hair fall, it may be due to an aggravated Pitta or Vata dosha. Eat curd mindfully, as it can aggravate Kapha and Pitta if consumed improperly. The best way is to have it during lunch, mixed with some spices like black pepper or a pinch of turmeric to enhance digestion and balance doshas. You can aim to consume about 100-150 grams daily, but ensure it's part of a well-rounded diet. When it comes to applying curd on the scalp, it can be beneficial as it provides direct moisture to the hair and scalp. You can make a simple hair mask by mixing curd with a spoonful of fenugreek powder or just apply plain curd. Leave it on for about 30-40 mins before washing off with a mild shampoo. Doing this once a week can show noticeable improvement over time, maybe in a few weeks to a couple of months, depending on individual response. As for dietary changes, make sure to include plenty of leafy greens, almonds, and whole grains. Also, stay hydrated and maintain a regular sleeping cycle. Avoid excessive application of heat or chemicals to your hair. If hair fall persists, consider consulting an Ayurvedic physician for a personalised assessment to determine if there are deeper imbalances like digestive issues affecting your hair health. Immediate changes are rare, so patience is key as natural methods takes time to reveal results.
