Sri Sri Tattva Face Wash Cucumber And Lemon - #35824

Sophia

I am looking for some advice about this new product I tried last week – the Sri Sri Tattva Face Wash Cucumber And Lemon. I've been on a hunt for a gentle face wash since my skin has been feeling kinda dull and oily lately, like…I can’t explain it but I just feel like I need something refreshing, ya know? So, I bought this face wash thinking the cucumber and lemon combo would help because they sound refreshing, right? The first couple of times using it, I thought my skin felt super soft and like it was glowing a little, which was nice! But then, after a few days, I noticed some redness creeping up around my cheeks, and I’m a bit worried. Did I do something wrong? Do you think the Sri Sri Tattva Face Wash Cucumber And Lemon could be too strong for my skin, or maybe it’s just reacting to something else? Like, I switched up my whole skincare routine a bit and maybe that’s why? Also, how do I know if it’s actually good for my skin type? Any advice on what to pair it with or maybe even other gentle products that work better? Just feeling a little lost here and any help would be amazing!!! Thanks in advance!

Doctors' responses

Switching skincare products can sometimes lead to unexpected reactions, and your experience with redness could point towards sensitivity to an ingredient, either in the Sri Sri Tattva Face Wash or elsewhere in your routine. The ingredients cucumber and lemon are generally considered refreshing and beneficial in Ayurveda for their cooling and purifying properties. However, lemon, in particular, can be too stimulating for sensitive or reactive skin types due to its high acidity.

With Ayurveda, it’s important to understand your prakriti (constitution) and dosha balance. If you have a Pitta-dominant skin type, which is prone to redness and sensitivity, lemon might exacerbate Pitta imbalance. Your skin’s reaction may be indicating an increased Pitta dosha. This indicates you’ve to be cautious with products containing citrus or overly stimulating ingredients.

For now, consider conducting a patch test with the face wash - apply a small amount to a discreet area of your skin, like behind your ear before continuing use. Also reflect on whether any other new products could be contributing to the irritation; sometimes interplay of multiple changes can lead to unexpected reactions.

In terms of pairing, it’s wise to complement your routine with calming and nourishing elements. Ayurvedic recommendations for a gentle and balancing routine may include using rose water as a toner, known for its cooling and pacifying influence on Pitta. You might also look into soothing herbal gels that include aloe vera, which can help counteract redness and inflammation.

If you’re willing to explore alternatives, consider face washes featuring sandalwood or neem, which are gentler, with more of a balancing effect on Pitta and Kapha (usually connected to oiliness). Focus on ensuring your skincare routine supports your overall balance — Ayurveda advocates for personalized care, so make choices aligned with your unique constitution.

To determine if the face wash is suitable for your skin, observe changes carefully post-application. If redness persists or increases, it might be best to discontinue use immediately and consult with a professional who understands both Ayurveda and dermatology for guidance tailored to your specific needs.
