I am really struggling with my skin lately. I’ve tried tons of products, but nothing seems to work. I read about how to use apple cider vinegar for skin and it sounds promising ? I’ve got pretty bad acne and some dark spots, and my skin feels greasy yet dry at the same time, ugh! It’s super frustrating and honestly, I’m tired. A friend suggested diluted apple cider vinegar might help but I’m not sure where to start. Should I just apply it directly or do I need to mix it with something ? Like, I’ve seen some people say mix it with water while others suggest adding honey. Also, can I use it on my face every day or will that be too harsh? Last week I tried a DIY mask with it and it was kinda intense, made my skin tingle a bit—I didn't know if that's normal or bad!! I just want to make sure I’m doing this right, and not making my skin worse. Any tips on how to use apple cider vinegar for skin properly? Would love any advice or personal experiences! Thanks a lot!!

Apple cider vinegar (ACV) is quite popular for skincare, especially with acne and dark spots, but it’s crucial to use it carefully to avoid irritation. Start by always diluting ACV before applying it to your face—never use it undiluted as this can cause skin burns or worsen your condition. A safe starting ratio is one part ACV to three parts water. Adjust based on your skin’s sensitivity over time.

For application, cleanse your face with a gentle, non-drying cleanser to remove any surface oil and dirt. After drying your face, soak a cotton pad or ball in the diluted ACV solution and gently dab it on the affected areas. Leave it on for no more than 10-15 minutes, then rinse off with lukewarm water. This helps regulate the skin’s pH, combat bacteria, and reduce oiliness—a common imbalance like what you’re experiencing with both greasiness and dryness.

It’s advisable to start this procedure about 2-3 times a week, then observe how your skin reacts. If well-tolerated, you might increase to daily use, but nightly applications are preferable to avoid daytime sun exposure, which could irritate your skin after using ACV. Listen to your skin—if irritation occurs (like a tingling sensation that feels intense), cut back on frequency or further dilute the solution.

For added moisturizing benefits, especially to counteract the drying effect, you could consider incorporating a small amount of honey, which has soothing properties, into the mixture. However, ensure you do a patch test first to check for any adverse reactions.

Avoid using harsh skincare products alongside ACV treatment, as combining treatments might exacerbate irritation. Always moisturize after ACV use to maintain your skin’s moisture barrier. Finally, remember, the effectiveness of ACV varies among individuals, and results can take time. If it doesn’t help or irritation persists, consulting with a dermatologist or an Ayurvedic physician for a personalized approach might be beneficial.
