multani mitti how to use - #36546

I am really curious about multani mitti and how to use it effectively. A few weeks ago, I started noticing my skin getting super oily, especially around my T-zone – like, it’s kinda gross, you know? I read online about this awesome natural remedy, multani mitti, and it seems like everyone raves about it for oily skin. I tried mixing it with water the first time, but it kind of became a big mess and didn’t really feel right on my face. I was like, am I doing it wrong? Last night, I thought, why not add some rose water? But still not sure about the proportions and like, how long I should leave it on my skin. Also, can you mix it with other things? I saw a post about combining it with honey, which sounds cool, but I'm not really clear on when or how to apply that compared to using it just with plain water. Does multani mitti work better if I leave it on longer or shorter? I'm just feeling a bit overwhelmed and want to make sure I'm using multani mitti how to use it right so I can really get that glow and balance out the oiliness. Help!

Multani mitti, known as Fuller’s earth, is indeed quite a popular remedy for oily skin due to its excellent oil-absorption properties. It’s great that you’re exploring this, but let me help you make sure you’re using it effectively.

Firstly, mixing multani mitti with rose water is a classic and rejuvenating choice. Rose water not only helps in mixing the clay to a smooth paste but also adds a soothing effect to your skin. You don’t need much—try with about 2 tablespoons of multani mitti and add rose water slowly until you reach a smooth, thick paste that’s easy to apply. Avoid making it too runny. Once you’re happy with the mix, apply evenly across your face, focusing on your T-zone where oiliness is more prominent. Allow it to stay for about 15-20 minutes, or until it dries but isn’t flaking off excessively. Over-drying can irritate, so be gentle when removing it.

In terms of mixing with other ingredients, honey is an excellent choice if you’re also looking for hydration alongside oil control. Honey has natural antibacterial and moisturizing properties. Mixing a teaspoon of honey with paste can create a mask that can hydrate as well as reduce excess oil. Apply it in the same way as the rose water mix, but perhaps leave it on a bit shorter, around 10-15 minutes.

You can also try adding a splash of lemon juice if your skin can tolerate it, or a pinch of turmeric for added anti-inflammatory benefits—though it’ll stain! Always patch test any new combination on a small skin area. Multani mitti works best with regular use, perhaps twice a week, depending on your skin’s response.

Keep in mind, oily skin can also be a sign of underlying pitta imbalance. Managing stress, avoiding overly spicy foods, incorporating cooling foods like cucumbers and melons, and staying hydrated might further help balance internal oil production.

Glowing, balanced skin is on its way: just take it slow and find the balance your skin loves most!
