can curd remove dandruff - #36547

Jack

I am dealing with this really frustrating dandruff issue, and I'm kinda at my wits end. Like, I’ve tried a bunch of shampoos and treatments, and nothing seems to work! My scalp is super itchy, and I feel embarrassed sometimes when I'm out, especially if I happen to wear darker clothes. Ugh! A friend mentioned something about how can curd remove dandruff, and I was like, wait, can it really do that? I mean, I’ve heard of curd being good for digestion and all, but is there any truth to this whole curd thing for dandruff? I actually started having curd more in my diet thinking it might help, but idk if that just affects the inside or if it can help with this annoying scalp problem too. What do you think? Should I be using curd directly on my scalp? I feel like I read that somewhere, but also not sure. Is there a specific way to apply it or any other remedies I could try along with it? Options are kinda overwhelming right now! Thanks!

Curd, commonly known as yogurt, indeed can be useful in addressing dandruff issues. In Ayurveda, dandruff is often linked to an imbalance of Vata and Kapha doshas in the body, leading to an aggravated condition of the scalp. The cooling, moisturizing, and probiotic-rich properties of curd can be particularly effective in soothing this irritation and rebalancing these doshas.

Applying curd directly on your scalp could help in more effective way. Here’s how you might use it: Start by taking some fresh, plain curd — preferably not too sour. Massage it gently onto your scalp so that it’s evenly spread. You can leave it on for about 30-45 minutes. This gives curd the time to work it’s magic! You might find it beneficial to rinse off with a mild herbal shampoo to avoid harsh chemicals. Doing this once or twice a week should suffice to see some improvement over time.

While curd can be helpful, it’s also worth considering some additional home remedies and lifestyle adjustments for maximum benefit. Mix curd with a little bit of fresh lemon juice, and apply the same way, if you tolerate citrus well. The acidity of the lemon juice can help to combat dandruff further. Amla (Indian gooseberry) is another excellent ingredient – whether consumed or applied as a paste. Consuming it in a powdered form or applying its juice mixed with curd can aid in balancing doshas.

Making dietary adjustments can complement these topical treatments. Eating more omega-3-rich foods like flaxseeds, walnuts and fish is known to support scalp health. Also, regularly oiling your scalp with coconut or sesame oil can also help maintain moisture balance, further preventing dandruff

Remember, changes might not happen overnight. Ayurvedic treatments can take some time, its a gradual process. But with persistent effort, they can provide long-lasting relief. If symptoms persist or worsen, seeking help from an Ayurvedic practitioner would be a wise step.
