I am really struggling with this dandruff issue and I keep hearing mixed things about what to do. Like, my friend swears by using curd, saying is curd good for dandruff? I've tried various shampoos and treatments, but nothing seems to work. Sometimes, I feel like it’s worse after I wash my hair, and I've even noticed my scalp getting super itchy. It’s kinda embarrassing, you know? Like I’ve started avoiding wearing dark clothes because of the flakes! Lately, I've been doing some home remedies myself, thinking maybe that would help. I googled a bunch of natural stuff, and curd came up a lot in the search. I mean, I’ve read it’s packed with probiotics and good stuff but is curd really good for dandruff, like does it actually help? Or is it just another one of those things that don’t do anything? I mixed some with a bit of lemon juice to try it out, but didn't know if it should be left on for hours or just a few minutes. Kinda scared to try stuff without some input first, so do any of you know from experience if is curd good for dandruff? Or can it worsen things? Would love some advice before jumping in!

Curd, with its cooling properties, can help to pacify these imbalances, making it potentially beneficial for alleviating dandruff. Its natural antifungal and antibacterial properties help in reducing the yeast that aggravates dandruff, while its soothing nature can calm the scalp.

When using curd, the application method is important. It should be applied as a hair mask. Mix about half a cup of curd with a tablespoon of lemon juice, which enhances its effectiveness due to lemon’s acidic nature that helps in exfoliating dead skin cells. Apply this mixture evenly to your scalp and hair, ensuring that it covers all problem areas, and leave it on for about 30 minutes. Do not leave it for hours as that can overly saturate your scalp. Rinse thoroughly with a mild herbal shampoo. It’s best to repeat this remedy once or twice a week for optimal results.

It’s also important to make sure that the curd is fresh and not too sour, as overly fermented curd might irritate some scalp conditions instead of soothing them. After the treatment, avoid very hot water for rinsing as it can dry out your scalp further.

Considering your dandruff worsens after washing, check the ingredients of your current shampoo as harsh chemicals might strip your hair of natural oils, leading to dryness and flaking. Opt for gentle, natural shampoos instead. Besides curd, maintaining a balanced diet, rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, zinc, and B vitamins, can support scalp health from the inside out. Regular oiling with coconut oil or sesame oil can also moisturize the scalp, reducing symptom severity. Assess and modify, if needed, your hair care routine and work on stress management to prevent further aggravation of dandruff.
