Dandruff and hair fall can be interconnected as an imbalance in your doshas, particularly an aggravated Vata and Pitta, can cause dryness and irritation on the scalp, leading to flakes and weakened hair roots. To tackle this, consider incorporating these Ayurvedic approaches.

For hair fall and to enhance hair volume, you can start by massaging your scalp with warm oil, such as sesame or coconut oil, mixed with a few drops of essential oils like rosemary or thyme. This should be done at least twice a week, ideally before night and washed off in the morning. Massaging stimulates blood circulation to the scalp, promotes nourishment and strengthens hair roots while reducing stress.

Dandruff could be alleviated by using a homemade paste of neem leaves. Boil a handful of neem leaves in water, let it cool, and grind to make a paste. Apply this to your scalp twice a week; neem has natural anti-fungal properties that can help in controlling dandruff and soothing the scalp.

Diet plays a significant role too. Integrate cooling foods, like cucumbers, melons and leafy greens, that pacify Pitta dosha. Ensure your diet is rich in essential fatty acids, proteins, and iron, found in almonds, flaxseeds, spinach, lentils, amla, and legumes. Avoid excessive caffeine, spicy or fried foods that exacerbate Pitta.

Daily practice of yoga and pranayama, specifically poses like downward dog and bhramari pranayama, helps in improving blood circulation and reducing stress, thus indirectly aiding hair health.

If dandruff is persistent or there’s excessive hair fall, it would be wise to consult an Ayurvedic doctor for a personalized diagnosis and treatment plan. It’s crucial to remember severe or rapid hair loss might require an evaluation to rule out other underlying health issues.
