which hair style is best - #39556

Stella

I am really struggling with my hair lately and just can’t seem to find the right look! I have kinda wavy hair that sometimes frizzes a lot, and I really don’t know which hair style is best for me. I recently tried to pull off this cute bob, but it just made my face look rounder than it is, ugh. I also heard that layering could help with my volume, but I’ve had layers before and ended up with a mess on my head not able to style it properly. I’ve been thinking maybe I should also consider some color, like highlights or something, idk. My friends say I should stick to simple styles like a ponytail or maybe a bun, but it feels so boring. Sometimes I think about cutting it all off, but then I remember how long it took to grow it out! I feel kinda lost here. Does anyone have any tips on which hair style is best for someone with my hair type? Have you had similar experiences?? Like how do I decide what looks good on me?? Any help would be super appreciated since I feel like I am chasing my own tail here. Thanks!!!

When dealing with wavy hair that tends to frizz, finding a hairstyle can indeed be tricky. It sounds like you’re seeking a balance between style and manageability. In Ayurveda, hair health and appearance are linked to your overall prakriti (constitution) and imbalances, so let’s approach this holistically.

For wavy and frizzy hair, your natural vata and kapha aggravation might be affecting the texture and volume. To address this, consider hairstyles that embrace your natural wave, which can reduce frizz rather than fighting against it. A medium-length layered cut could add some structure without creating excessive volume. Layers should be subtle and not too short, as very short layers can exacerbate frizz.

Regarding style, a soft shag or feather-cut could be flattering; it brings out the natural wave and maintain some length for versatility. It’s modern yet low-maintenance, aligning perfectly with your description. Be mindful that too many layers can make it difficult to style. Layers that frame your face softly can highlight features without making your face appear rounder.

As for color, subtle highlights can add dimension, but ensure they’re done with techniques suited for wavy hair, like balayage, which gives a natural look.

To manage frizz and define waves, incorporate Ayurvedic practices like hair oiling with coconut or sesame oil, which can help control dryness and nourish the hair. Applying a few drops of oil on damp hair can also help.

Incorporate a silk or satin pillowcase to reduce frizz and breakage while sleeping. Ayurveda suggests that diet also plays a role in hair health, so a diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, and adequate hydration can improve overall hair quality.

It’s essential to stay connected with your natural hair pattern and adapt styles that enhance it rather than conforming to trends. Be patient with the process, and consider consulting with a stylist who understands your vision and can work with your unique hair type.

Thanks so much for clarifying this! I had no idea mixing meds could be risky. I'll stick to my doctor's meds and look into Ayurveda separately.
