I am really struggling with my hair these days! I decided to go the natural route and want to know how to make henna paste for hair. Last week, I tried using store-bought henna, but it just didn’t work well. My hair went all frizzy and dry, and I ended up with this weird reddish tint that I wasn’t aiming for. Ugh! I’ve seen friends with beautiful results after using natural henna, like super shiny hair and great color. It made me jealous, honestly 😅. Anyway, I wanna try making the henna paste myself. The thing is, I have no idea how to make henna paste for hair—what’s the best way? I heard something about mixing it with lemon juice or tea but got totally confused. And do I need to let it sit for hours or something? Also, how long do I leave it on my hair? I’m scared of it making my hair worse! Anyone here who can guide me? What should I avoid if I want to get it right? I really want to ditch the chemical stuff and just feel like my hair looks good again! Help plz!

To create henna paste for your hair, start by choosing quality henna powder, ideally the purest you can find. Look for packaging that sources it from regions known for producing high-grade henna, like Rajasthan. This ensures you’ll get a natural color without unwanted frizziness or strange hues.

Now, about mixing—there’s indeed a buzz around using lemon juice, but since it can be quite drying, I suggest switching it for something more nurturing. For hair health, brewed black tea or even amla powder blended with water are great alternatives. Both are nourishing for your hair and can enhance the color. Another nice addition is a teaspoon of yogurt or hair-friendly oils like coconut or olive oil—to add moisture and shine.

To prepare the henna paste, mix your henna powder with warm water or tea (or both!) until you reach a pancake batter consistency. Then add your optional ingredients like yogurt or oil. Once mixed, cover the bowl with a plastic wrap and let it sit for 4 to 6 hours at room temperature. This allows the dye to fully release.
