I’m a healthy 60-yrs old woman and this year all the seldom my hair started to fall off leaving small bold spots in my head. I’m in an aggressive hormone therapy and taking supplements for my hair. Would you have any advice to help the health of my hair follicles?

Start by examining your diet, as nutrition plays a pivotal role in maintaining healthy hair. Focus on eating a balanced diet rich in proteins, vitamins and minerals. Consider including food such as dark green leafy vegetables, nuts, seeds, whole grains, and legumes. Particularly, amla (Indian gooseberry) a rich source of vitamin C, can nourish the scalp and strengthen hair follicles. You could also incorporate healthy fats like ghee or sesame oil, which are beneficial for Vata dosha, often an underlying factor in hair loss.

It’s important to maintain good scalp hygiene. Apply a gentle massage to the scalp using warm oils like coconut or bhringraj oil, these are traditional Ayurvedic remedies believed to rejuvenate hair follicles. Let the oil sit for at least an hour before washing it out with a mild Ayurvedic shampoo. Doing this once or twice a week can improve circulation and provide essential nutrients to the hair roots.
