how to use anu taila for hair growth - #41444

Amelia

I am really struggling with my hair lately. I’ve been noticing it thinning out, and it’s been super frustrating. I've heard about anu taila and how to use anu taila for hair growth but I'm not quite sure where to start. A friend of mine swears by it, saying it made her hair so much thicker! I tried looking up some tips online, but honestly, there are so many different opinions out there. I’ve been wanting to try ayurvedic remedies instead of those chemical-laden products that don't seem to work. The thing is, I read that you can use anu taila both for massaging the scalp and maybe even adding it in some kind of hair oil mix, but I’m confused about the right way to apply it. Should it be warm or is room temp better? Also, how often should I be using it? Daily, weekly? And is there a specific technique for massaging it into my scalp? My hair is super oily already, so would that be okay? I’ve got a lot of questions and a bit of a worry that I might not be using this properly. Would love some advice on how to use anu taila for hair growth!

Anu taila is traditionaly used more for nasal application (nasya) than topical hair treatment, but it can offer benefits when used for scalp massage as it is so potent in balancing Vata and Pitta doshas. To apply anu taila for promoting hair growth, there are a few key steps to keep in mind.

First, warming the oil slightly is beneficial. This does not mean it should be hot—just comfortably warm. You can achieve this by placing the bottle in a bowl of warm water for a few minutes. Warm anu taila increases its absorption into the scalp which can be more effective in nourishing hair follicles.

For application, you’ll want to use a small amount, particularly given your oily hair. Apply it maybe 30 minutes before you plan to wash your hair. With your fingertips, gently massage the taila into the scalp using small circular motions. This stimulates blood circulation, enhancing the scalp’s ability to absorb the nutrients from the oil. Start at the top of your scalp, then move to the forehead region, and finally towards the back.

As for frequency, you might start by applying it once or twice a week. This allows your scalp to adjust without over-oiling your hair, especially since you’ve said its already oily. Consistency is key—so find a routine that feels sustainable for you.

Important thing to remember is that Ayurveda looks at holistic health, which includes diet and lifestyle. Ensure your diet is rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, and proteins, while avoiding overly-spicy or acidic foods which can imbalance Pitta dosha, potentially affecting your hair health.

Remember, while Ayurveda provides great health guidance, if you notice excessive shedding or scalp issues persisting it might be beneficial to consult with a healthcare professional to rule out any underlying conditions.
